Issue1:As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

Nature's Way, a chain of stores selling health food and other health-related products, is opening its next franchise in the town of Plainsville. The store should prove to be very successful: Nature’s Way franchises tend to be most profitable in areas where residents lead healthy lives, and clearly Plainsville is such an area. Plainsville merchants report that sales of running shoes and exercise clothing are at all-time highs. The local health club has more members than ever, and the weight training and aerobics classes are always full. Finally,Plainsville's schoolchildren represent a new generation of potential customers:these schoolchildren are required to participate in a fitness-for-life program, which emphasizes the benefits of regular exercise at an early age.
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument.Be sure to explain how the argument depends on these assumptions and what the implications are for the argument if the assumptions prove unwarranted.
习作:
In this argument, the arguer concludes that a new store of Nature’s Way should be built in Plainsville. This conclusion is based on the assumption that they have many residents that are highly concerned with leading healthy lives that can lead to the success of NW. To substantiate this conclusion, the arguer points out that the sales of running shoes and exercise clothing are at all-time highs. In addition to justify this claim, the arguer reasons that the local health club now have more members than ever. And the schoolchildren required to join a fitness program anticipate a new generation of customers. This argument suffers from several critical fallacies as follows.
The major problem lies in this argument is that the arguer improperly inferred the future condition from the current condition in haste. The recommendation fails to substantiate that this interest will continue in the foreseeable future. For that this inference of interest mostly based on several unrelated conceptions: (1) strong sales of exercise apparel currently do not necessarily indicate that Plainesville residents would be interested in Nature’s Way’s products in the future. (2) the people who exercise regularly do not necessarily also always interested in buying health food and health-related products. All of the passion can just be a moment popular trend that will continually fade away. The groundless ill-conceived anticipation on current customer interest contains no assure evidence to support that NW can make future profit on its new store in Plainesville.
Another problem worth considering is that the non-causal relationship between the conclusion and several evidences. There are no causation relations between the resident’s interest of healthy lives and the success of NW’s new store in Plainseville. (1) the popularity of the local health club can little indicate that the residents in Plainesville live much healthier live, and would love to eat healthy food from NW. There still a lot of people exercise just for they can eat more delicious food that they want to eat but not that healthy. (2) a certain fitness program is mandatory for Plainesville’s schoolchildren does not necessarily lead to bolstering in NW. The arguer fails to consider the possible factors that the resident’s interest in healthy lives may contribute to the existing stores primarily other than a new store of NW.
In addition the conclusion is based on a gratuitous assumption that the interest of customer can assure the success of NW’s new store. This is, however, unwarranted. The arguer does not provide any information regarding the cost of building and managing such a new store thus we cannot be convinced that the new store will be profitable, or even can barely balance the expenditure.
To conclude, this argument is not persuasive and somewhat misleading as it stands. I would suspend my judgment about the credibility until the arguer can prove the causation relationship between the resident’s interests and the future success of NW to make the argument more convincing. To solidify the argument, the arguer would have to provide more concrete facts about the cost of building and operating such a new store of NW.
