Do nonmainstream areas of inquiry play a vital role in society?The author claims so for the reason that it satisfys human needs which can't be handled by mainstream science.I fundamentally agree with the speaker insofar as that mainstream science,although essential in the proceeding of our life,can not be so perfect to illustrate all the existing phenomena.
I concede that the so-called nonmainstream areas indeed render us some kind of appeasement to some extent.Especially in the ancient time when the technology wasn't so well developed as to explain all the phenomena-such as lighting，moon eclipse,and so forth- they embraced.So comes the fables of Adam,Eve and some the like upon which the ancient people could rely their minds.All this could help nothing but to mollify demos' confused feeling of the existing world they live in.To butress this point briefly,here is a case that is very compelling.Condsider,for instance,fishing in bygone time,no weather forecast,no other devices to predict what would be going on next.Astrology arised.It could not merely tell them what was the weather like tommorrow,more important,faith was passing on from the astrologist to the listener.It is so crucial and can not be substituted.Another persuasive case is to imagine you as a unfornate HIV cantaminated patient.No hope for the faded future.What if a  pastor comes to pray for you and tell you what a divine world the world is.In my observation,most of us might feel relieved.
Nonetheless too much beliefs in  nonmainstream areas will do more harm than good.Nowdays,with the developing of the high speed information bridge,majority of our concerns can be explained sufficiently.Returning to the the psychic,for instance,which involves mainly imagination has controlled some people-basically the ill-educated or underclass ones-indeed impede them from working hard,but imagination instead.It is ostensible that ,if so,his or her personal life may fade,so may the the prosperity of the society.
Lending even more disagreement with the statement is that though some nonmainstream areas satifies people's needs which the mainstream ones can't afford,it's unimportant either.To be frankly,some of them even should be abolished.Take a fitting example of China,emporers call for  the multitude to believe in hierarchy for the ostensible purpose lf maintaining its power by means of fortune-telling,psychical,and so forth.As a result,it brought everlast infernal like society to demos.Refraining from doing this or reversing the natural process of this,nonmainstream areas shouldn't be taken precedence in our modern society.
In sum ,the issue of nonmainstream areas should be considered upon a case-by-case basis.Under some circumstances,that is,to granted as a hope or faith when we get strike so as to regain confidence,it's valuable.Nevertheless,one who is submissive to it will lost the desire to ameliorate his or her life via working hard.In the final analysis,we should make apt use of the nonmainstream areas.
