呵呵,这篇我以前也写过,给你参考。有些地方写的不好。呵呵,别介意
Few people, if asked, would fail to see the shortcomings of an academic area or professional field even if they do not major in it, yet even fewer possibly with the idea that to recognize the limits of our knowledge and understanding is as important as it is to acquire new facts and information. I , however, am one of those few people.
Much as we may pride on ourselves of our huge and splendid heritage from our ancestors, who had created so many different cultures as well as found out so many universal scientific truths, it can never be concealed that we are so limited in knowledge and in the understanding of the universe, taking all the potential knowledge and truth into account. A man regarding human being to have mastered all the mysteries of nature is just as ridiculous as a person who boasts to know every detail of every daily affair taking place in every corner of this world. In this sense, to realize the limits in our knowledge clearly where we stand in the long stair that leads to the ultimate gate of knowledge. A clear mind and a light heart alike is most important before me make my further probes into the unknown. Similarly, impetuosity and arrogance are the most dangerous obstacles on this way. Just think how the mansion of Classical Physics was tore down. No one at that time even took the least doubt of this grandiose mansion, since their great mentor Newton had built such strong and endurable bricks into it. But how? When Maxwell ad other innovative physicists came to knock at the weakest door of this mansion, they were so terribly laughed and sneered at that they could not precipitate the progressing of this great science subject as they would have. Pity for those who believed there wouldn't be any faults or shortcomings in Classical Physics because it was due to their blindness and vanity that hindered human's further progress.
Besides serving a mirror of our conscience, realizing our own limits is also a powerful catalyst for us. We never fail to see how it has prompted great leaps in a subject or how the overcoming of an obstacle has brought out an intense debate among grass-roots thus serves forebears another enlightening. Human nature's greediness, which in many cases are criticized severely for its temptation of degeneration and prodigality is, in other cases, indispensable stimulus of more civilized minds. Only when we keep our limitations in mind, though sometimes they are as bitter as shames, can we bolster up to fight and to endeavor so as to get rid of the bad feeling and thus achieve greater goals. The circle may never end, yet it will of course do good to all the civilizations.
If there are any other reasons for our recognition of our limits, I would list "beauty" on the top of the list. For long the idea that "Imperfection is beauty" has taken root in our minds. While most people apply it to embarrassing cases, say, a plain face or a school report with too many Bs than it should be, I particularly consider it a vivid description of human's mastery of knowledge. To imagine the situation where nothing can be improved nor anything can be added to the already known facts and information! Is it a peaceful paradise? By no means. What I see it is a pool of water that never flows and gradually gives off stinky smells. To put it in another way, any academic area or professional field is a dreadful place if we ignore the limits of it, deliberately or not.
I can list more to argue the importance of facing up this side of the fact but let me stop here. To summarize, I believe an honest heart, like a limited academic field, is most hopeful.
