4.29 独立作文Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is often not a good idea to move to a new city or a new country because you will lose old friends.

Friends are important in people’s life.A person can live without his family, but not without friends. Therefore, some people come up with an idea that it is often not a good idea to move to a new city or a new country because you will lose old friends. In another word, we’d better stay in one place to avoid the loss of old friends. This idea seems to be true, but only to some extent, which I don’t agree with for the following reason.
Fristly, true friends keep each other at a proper distance, so do old friends. Tradition wisdom goes that a hedge in between keeps the friendship green. There is a lot of truth in it. One will soon get tired if he meets his friends too often, because he can hardly find a new topic or novel story to share with his friends.
Secondly, moving to a new place cannot be equaled with losing old friends with the development of technology. Today, the advent of the social network and other up-to-date communication tools ensures the communication between friends effective and efficient. One can keep in touch easily with his friends even if they live in different cities or different countries.
Thirdly, new friends in new places may be better and much more helpful. Moving to a new city, one can make new friends, who are more familiar with the lives there. Consequently, these new friends can offer practical and instant help if an emergency occurs. Nevertheless, even if one can live in one place for his whole life without the risk of leaving old friends, but he can never make sure that his friends will always be with him in the same place.
As far as I am concerned, one should not give up the chance to move away in fear of losing old friends. For it is not the distance determines the quality of friendship, but the sincerity and loyalty. On the other hand, one need to look forward to new things, but not to live in the past. And so is it when it comes to friends. Above all, I should reiterate that I disagree with the opinion shown in the exam paper.
