UM-SJTU Joint Institute is jointly founded by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University and University of Michigan Ann Arbor, funded by SJTU, UMich and the Ministry of Education UM-SJTU, as a pioneer effort initiated to introduce US academic system into China.
As the current faculty recruitment at UM-SJTU Joint Institute (JI) completed, JI is inviting talented and motivated students to join JI to pursue their
MS/PhD degrees.

Students in related majors are encouraged to write to these faculty members
for possibilities of pursuing MS/PhD degrees at JI. Currently, JI are still
finalizing recruiting policy for graduate students with SJTU and the Ministry of Education. It is possible to get around with the standard MS/PhD entrance examinations. Instead, TOEFL and GRE scores are mandatory for the graduate admissions.
Similar to the US system, JI offers a competitive stipend to PhD students as TA or RA.
