Agree or Disagree:In order to succeed, you should be more like others than be different from everyone else;
Success may refer to achievement of a goal. Each individual has his/her own definition of success. A sizable percentage of
people hold the view that people should more like others in order to succeed. However, I entirely show repugnance towards this assertion. In few respects, this proposal may be reasonable, but in most cases, showing differences from others will contribute to
brilliant success in the
future career and academic study.
To begin with, we cannot deny that one who gain acceptance by others or unwritten norms may be quite successful. However, continuous success may require creative ideas or critical thinking. To exemplify what I mean, look at the case of John Nash. Nash is an American mathematician. Through insisting his belief and personal persistent endeavor, Nash develops a systematical theory called "Nash Equilibrium", which fundamentally changed the realm of economics, due to the breakthrough of this magnitude, Nash won Nobel Prize of 1994 for his eminent contribution. Therefore, success depends on our ability to create something never existed before, to think of new ideas and to make a difference.
Secondly, being successful means to follow one's own dream without being influenced by others. We have to admit that all of us have an innate desire to be accepted by those around us. However, we should not let others' opinions drown out our own inner voice. Foremost, having courage to follow our own heart and intuition. Individuals with independent attitude towards life are satisfied with their lives and likely to be successful because they have followed their own dreams rather than being trapped by the influence of others. Considering Steve Job, if he gives up this dream, he would have never his success in Apple company.
We cannot imagine the situation without Apple's product. All these achievement are related to Job's endeavor.
In conclusion, I concede that it is crucial to maintain constructive ideas. Innovation will lead us to continued success. Two cases involving Thomas Edison and Jack Welch can be cited to substantiate this point. Briefly speaking, it is quite important for each individuals to find his/her own path to success. Thus, I strongly recommend that one should be more different from others in order to succeed.
