题目(tpo5)：Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

People today spend too much time on personal enjoyment-doing things they like to do-rather than doing things they should do.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Nowadays, our society has witnessed the great development brought by high-end science and technology. The living standard, education system and many other aspects all reveal a more comfortable and enjoyable life that we have today.

Compared with people who live in the old time, people, today, are endowed with more opportunities to choose their way to live their own lives and tackle their own businesses. For example, in the ancient time, people were exposed to the severe environmental surroundings, they had no shelters, not enough food and even no clothes to protect them from the cold winter. Sometimes they had to fight with wild animals to survive. We cannot deny that we are so happy and lucky to live in the modern society. There is no need for us to worry about these horrible conditions, and we are able to choose where to live, how to decorate our houses, what food to eat and which kind of clothes to wear. Far from the life in the ancient time, we can make a number of choices in order to have a wonderful life. How happy we are today.

Despite the fact that we live better than people in the past, we cannot neglect that we do not always spend much time doing things we really like. Faced with the competitive job market, we, young people, have to spend nearly one-third of our whole life in schools. When we were in high school, our parents and teachers told us that more opportunities would be exposed to you if you got a high mark in the entrance examination to college. We all held this belief and studied day and night in order to become a more outstanding student in such a large group of students. Then when we stepped into the college, form the experiences of senior students, we learnt that in order to have a good job in the near future, we would better attend graduate school due to the large number of college students. We spend almost all the time thinking about the next step we should take and we have no choice but make such decisions. We cannot spend our whole time doing our favorite things but most time we stay in the classroom hanging around in the knowledge world not matter we like or not. We have a number of choices, but we also have no choice at the same time. What a sarcastic phenomenon, is not it?

I cannot totally agree with the statement, but I still deem that our pains will harvest one day in the future. We do things what we should do today, then we will surely be more likely to do things what we like tomorrow.
