185"Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could."
I fundamentally agree with the author that scandals focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could. However, it is dangerous to put this assertion into extremes. If the scandals are exaggerated to the extent that people only focus on them, they will make a bad effort.

It is true that there are scandals existed in many areas such as politics, academia and business. In these areas, though people all try to make a circumstance of equality and freedom, yet there always are scandals which affect this circumstance. These scandals, such as a famous professor had published some articles of his student while signed his name or a politician used his power to make decision unfairly, really focus our attention on some problems in a special way. Without them, we may be cheated and live under the feeling that every thing is OK and what we should is just to study hard and work hard, not thinking other things. They make us know that there are many unfair thing in the society and even in some areas that seems impossible. As a result, we should be more alert and do our best to prevent these things happened, either around or in ourselves. On the other hand, these scandals also make an effort of supervising the system of politics, academia or other areas. All the above illustrate the point that if the report of scandals was limited to a fit extent, they will make a positive effort.

However, if the scandals were reported too often, they will make a negative effort. Admittedly, there is many unfair things in the society, but we can not focus all our attention in it. Because there are also many good things in our communities. We should see them in a objective way. Only by doing this, we can have a right view to our work and society and make the right decision in our life. If we emphasize the scandals too much, there will be no development in our society. As we all know, everybody has its advantages and disadvantages, let alone the communities. What we should do is to correct its flaws and develop its advantages, not only criticising its mistake. In the same way, if scandals in a person were reported too much and to the extent that all his good aspects are ignored, I don not think it is suitable. For instance, the case of Kobe Brant has been reported too much. I do not think it can exclude the possibility that some reporters want to acquire benifits from this case while ignore the feeling of the people who was involved in this case including Kobe and the girl. In my opinion, I do not think a simple case should be reported so exactly or even exaggeratedly if there is not so many profits in it. In other words, they reporters should not pay too much attention to some scandals just for their own benefits.

In sum, the scandals in some areas rally focus our attention on problems in ways that mo speaker or reformer ever could and they do have a positive effect if objective. However, we should alert that the scandals was reported to a wrong extent or even just for the benefits of the reporter's own. At this condition, the scandals will make a positive effect to our society.

They make us know that there are many unfair things in the society and even in some areas that seems impossible. As a result, we should be more alert and do our best to prevent these things happening, either around or in ourselves. On the other hand, these scandals also make an effort of supervising the system of politics, academia or other areas. All the above illustrate the point that if the report of scandals was limited to a fit extent, they will make a positive effort.

However, if the scandals were reported too often, they will make a negative effort. Admittedly, there are many unfair things in the society, but we can not focus all our attention on it. Because there are also many good things in our communities, we should see them in an objective way. Only by doing this, we can have a right view to our work and society and make the right decision in our life. If we emphasize the scandals too much, there will be no development in our society. As we all know, everybody has its advantages and disadvantages, let alone the communities. What we should do is to correct its flaws and develop its advantages这个的意思是发扬它的优点?, not only criticizing its mistake. In the same way, if scandals in a person were reported too much and to the extent that all his good aspects are ignored, I don not think it is suitable. In sum, the scandals in some areas rally focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could and they do have a positive effect if objective. However, we should alert that the scandals were reported to a wrong extent or even just for the benefits of the reporter's own.
