Government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, even though these areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people.

Government, as a organization on behalf of population, has the duty to carry out not only some measures to gain short-term value but long-term value to develop the society and benefit its people. Beside, the wilderness areas publicly owned is important for people even for human being in its long-term value. Therefore, I agree with the speaker' assertion that government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their nature state for that such measure can better attain the long-term value of the wilderness areas.

To begin with, let’s have a look at the value of such measure. Obviously, to preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their nature state not only can make the animals and plants in wilderness areas comparable safely and better survive, but also can provide human being variety of being. Both the goals from such measure can be beneficial to people. On the one hand, making the animals and plants well survive means a better balance on earth, which balance is great important to human since we also are as part of the balance. Environmental scientists make sure that any animal or plant disappearing is possible to cause bad affection on human--perhaps threaten to end human being on the earth, even the convincing evidence cannot be provided. On the other hand,  to provide human being variety of being is essential to people. Along with the science and technology developing, people are more and more recognizing the importance of genus. Any gene of certain genus can not be reproduced by human being, which own very special value especially when we have the genetics and have research more about gene. Besides, if certain genus disappears, it disappears for ever. Our generation will only see it in picture or museum. No doubt it is a pity. Meanwhile, I concede that these areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people and we human may not gain profits from such measure of protecting wilderness areas at once for our limited technology and knowledge, but to a long-term aspect, can we deny the fact that it is a good measure?

Moreover, consider that government' duty is to develop the society and benefit its people. At the same time, the value of publicly owned wilderness areas can be clearly recognized, and operating measures to preserve publicly owned wilderness areas can help gain long-term value as above. Besides, if we consider the value of such measure is indispensable, can we admit the government does nothing about the preserve publicly owned wilderness areas? And can government overlook such value?

In sum, the government should pay great attention to the publicly owned wilderness areas and put necessary measure to protect such areas.
