8."It is often necessary, even desirable, for political leaders to withhold information from the public."
思路:
1:有保留的反对;
2:政治家隐藏信息的原因:可能是为了保持稳定的局面,或者是有些重要机密
3:但是过分隐藏有可能导致人们对政府的不信任或者导致腐败等问题;
4:人们有权监督政府的行为,政府的行为应该尽量公开透密
5:结论:政治家隐藏信息在某些方面是必须的, 但同时要尽可能多的把信息提供给公众。
From ancient to nowadays, there must be some reasons for the political leaders to withhold information from the public. however, the public as human beings or a part of the society, should of course have the right to know what and how the politicians have done during their political agenda.
To begin with, there must be several reasons for the political leaders to withhold information from the public. At first , personally speaking, the political leaders withhold the information to pursue that they can be elected, few politicians can disclose all their information to the public, if that, they may will fail to be a leader for the criticism from both their competitors or the republic. As a political leader, he or she can not disclose all information to the public, for instance, if the information is related with high technology or security strategies, disclosing it may be harmful to the public safety and perhaps even national safety and development. Thus, several factors make the political leaders can not open all the information to the public.
Having recognized that withholding information from the public may lead to many bad effects. Sometimes the governments withhold some information to prevent opponent opinions, while the more a government or the political leaders withhold information from the public, the more hostility the public advocated against the government. Meanwhile, withholding information from the public will result in corruption in the government and serious problems of society, and therefore bring huge detriment to society. For example, in China many governments fear to opening the information to the public, always enlarge the affects at last. There is a significant example to illustrate this problem, the PX project in Xiamen, arouses a overriding concern last year, both home and abroad. The main reason is that the government withhold the information at first from the public, at last lead to conflicts between the government and the public.Moreover, there are also several questions to ask: What if another project with the potential to threaten the public health is planned in the city? Would the government listen to the public again? What if a similar situation takes place in another region? Would the government there consider the view of the common people before making a decision? Admittedly, in a democracy regime, it is the elementary right for the public to know most of the information of the government on time, otherwise, it will reduce the efficiency of the policies made by the government. The government and political leaders should have the courage to accept the advice from the public and be supervised by the people. Only and only this can both the political leaders and the public benefit from the procedure.
To sum up, I agree the assertion that the political leaders should withhold information from the public for some special purposes, but, from a bright view, the political leaders should make the public to know information which is available to disclose to them.
