招生信息:
Dr. Jian Zhou’s group is seeking Ph.D. students to begin in Fall 2025, with research interests in one or more of the following areas:
1. Nano-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (NOEMS)
2. Nanomechanics and Metamaterials
3. Sensing, Control, and Imaging
4. Vibration and Acoustics

Full financial support will be provided in the form of research assistantship, including tuition waivers, stipends, and benefits. Students will engage in interdisciplinary projects and collaborate with leading researchers from Argonne National Laboratory, Cornell, and Harvard University. Students will have the opportunity to work as visiting researchers at Argonne National Laboratory for 1–3 years.

TOEFL, Duolingo, or IELTS is required before final admission; GRE is optional. Applicants with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Physics, Applied Physics, or related fields are highly encouraged to apply.

导师简介:
Dr. Jian Zhou joined the State University of New York at Binghamton as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department in Fall 2023. He conducted postdoctoral research at Argonne National Laboratory and earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University. His thesis work pioneered the bio-inspired flow microphone, which has been commercialized by Soundskrit (www.soundskrit.ca). Dr. Zhou's research has been featured in prestigious journals and major news outlets, including PNAS, Nature Physics, BBC, Scientific American, and The New York Times. He currently leads a nanoengineering research group specializing in mechanical, electrical, optical, and acoustical measurements; nanofabrication and characterization; and dynamic system design and modeling. Through advancements in bio-inspired engineering, nanomechanics, nanofabrication, and system-level integration, his research group is developing new nanodevices and tools for precision sensing, control, and imaging.
