Nowadays, in order to attract the consumers, many advertisements try to make them want to buy a product so that they will 'be like ' the person in the ad. From the fact, the author concludes that it is effective because it not only sells products but also helps people feel better about themselves.However, in my opinion, such ads indeed can advance the sales of products and satisfy some people's short desire, but the quality and effect after using are the importances what let consumers feel themselves better.
With the development of technology, the advertisements attract consumers by the amazing effect and the beautiful pack. The purpose of ads is showing public that the advantages of products as perfect as possible, so that the theme of most ads is how well the actors feel after using the products. For example,in the ads of apartments,we can see the actors enjoy comfort of the beautiful house;in the ads of dietic tea, we can witness the actor have lost tens of kilograms by using the products; while in the ads of foods, we can feel the relish by seeing the actor's performance. Considering the imitated and expectant mind of people, such ads would improve the sales of products in a short time , because consumers want to buy a product so that they will be like the person in the ads. But before they use the products by themselves, the consumers just achieve the transitory satisfaction caused by the mental hint that they would be like the person in ads.
However, we should realize a fact that all the advertisements only publicize the products advantages but never mention the disadvantages. Even in order to inspire consumers to buy the products,the advantages would be exaggerated into a obviously untrue condition.It is not responsible to increase the personal profits instead of telling truth. As the result, in the March 15th of every year, there are numberless cases of which the effect after using by consumers is different from that in ads, even the products have the problem of quality. So ads not only do not help people feel better about themselves,but also harm benefits of people. Consequently, after watching ads, consumers should analysis sanely about whether they would certainly by like the person in ads.
Moreover, even though the good quality and effect of some ads have been justified, with the many differences of taste, need, life style and other factors, every product can not be liked by all people. The understanding which a person get from ad is a visual feel, so he can not ensure whether the product suit him. For instance, a kind of makeup which good for the person in ad not necessarily suit all people's skins, a delicious candy which is liked by the actor in ad may be not fit all people's tastes. In these cases, how can consumers alway be like the people in ads? Therefore, the author still can not assert ads would help people feel better about themselves.
To sum up, making consumers want to buy a product so that they will be like the person in the ad
is really a effective way to improve sales
of products in a short time, but can not ensure to help people feel better about themselves.And when going shopping , consumers should consider both the quality,effect of a product and whether it suit themselves. |
