Nowadays, some may hold the opinion that we need not pay attention to all of the big events happening around the world, especially those unlikely to affect our daily life. However, I am definitely one of these who are concerned with these kinds of events. And my arguments for this point are listed as follows. The most important reason that let me agree with the statement without reservation is that knowing events happening in the world can help us keep away from all kinds of risk. We are living in a globalized period which is totally different from our grandpas' time. During that time, the condition of a small place can hardly be effect by someplace else. However, today subtle moving of a butterfly in the Brazil can make a huge typhoon far away .For instance, the American Financial Crisis has impact numerous countries in the world. In my hometown, it turns out hundreds of small factory were forced to shut down under the stress of the crisis. The situation may be better if the managers of these factories have been more concerned about the crisis which they may think was too far away to affect them. Meanwhile knowing events happening around the world may bring you chances or benefits and make your life more happier. As a matter of fact, sometimes we have to dig deeper into these events. The experience of a friend of mine, who became very rich after the war of Iraq, may serve as a good example here. After knowing the war was launched, he quickly addressed himself to getting acquainted to Iraq. Then, about a week later, he decided to extend his business to that country. At first, most of us thought he was crazy, be cause as far as we were concerned, it was much too dangerous there. Nevertheless, he told us that what we had known was very superficial, and with the study he had done, he already found out a way to avoid the risks and bring huge benefit to his business. By the time he returned, he had become a very rich man. From this successful experience of my friend, we can see that knowing different events around the world in detail may bring one a better life. Besides the reason above, it is also helpful knowing events happening around the world which may not affect our daily life so far. History is a great material for us to learn. Some events happening far away may happen around us after many years. For example, the pollution of DDT happening in some advanced countries dozens years ago happened again in China. A unprecedented catastrophe happened again because of the leader of China had not recognize the importance of it many years before. In a word, I insist that it is important to know events happening around the world. The more you know the less risk and more benefit you will receive.

（这个事例其实很好，但是这种表述太冗长，你可以省掉很多没用的话，）

Besides the reasons mentioned above, it is also helpful knowing events happening around the world which may not affect our daily life so far（感觉怪怪的）. History is a great material for us to learn. Some events happening far away may happen around us after many years. For example, the pollution of DDT happening in some advanced countries dozens years ago happened again in China. A unprecedented catastrophe happened again because of the leader of China had not recognized the importance of it many years before.(before 是个前置词因该不能这样用吧)
