Educationis one of the key words of our time. It equipped us with knowledge whichaccumulated during the past centuries and thus promote the development of thesociety. However, in face of the advanced development, in order to cultivatethe specialists of various kinds, we’ve ignored too much about the charactersand interests of each students.

Butthe speaker’s assertion that “Education will be truly effective only when it isspecifically designed to meet each student’s interest” is a little unilateralinsofar as consider what is the effective education.

Firstly,education should not only be the transmission of knowledge. An effectiveeducation should endow the student with knowledge and the way to receiveknowledge, more importantly, it should give the students good cultivation onmind, personality and character, to form them aright value about the society,the nation and the whole world. In this way, instead of providing the studentcertain conditions according to their interests an effective education may havemore to do with the teacher or the family’s influence.

Secondly,I confess the vital role interest has played in students’ education. Einsteinhas said “Interest is the best teacher”. And numerous of famous men in thehistory can also prove the importance of interests. Newton’s interested in the dropping applefrom the tree leading him to discover the gravitational force. Darwin’s interested in insects leading him tofind the origins of the human-beings. Such examples are countless. But whetherthis suggestion emphasizes on the interests to educate each student ispractical in consideration of the society’s resources and the student’s changeablecharacter in interests.

Comparedwith the huge number of students, education resources are limited. What’s more,the needs and interests of every student gradually change as they’re growing.And some students, for example, is interested in nothing but computer games.Should we provide good condition for them to play computer games? In my view,different education can be given only after the students have formed the rightsocial values, capable of making their own choices and identifying their ownneeds and interests, like, at college level, the college can design somecurriculums for students to choose.

Insum, rather than impart the students knowledge, education have some moreimportant functions and the idea to educate students according to theirinterests is good, but should implement based on different stages in theireducation.
