Issue51:
"Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

提纲:1.诚然,教育的目的就是为了培养个人的兴趣和个性,没有了兴趣教育就失去了意义。
2.但是,过分强调个性和兴趣而忽略了合作会导致学生self-centered, selfish等,失去了合作的能力和社会化能力,教育还要教会学生适应社会,毕竟很多事情不会为了个人意志而改变。
3.毅力的培养也是十分重要的。(大白话作文)


Education, as my teacher told me, is not an easy thing. Both interests and cooperation spirits need be rising by educate, either one aspect cannot overwhelm the other. Truly effective education, I conceive, should be educated not only in raising interests but cooperation spirits.

Admittedly, one of the goals of education is creating interests of each student and individual needs. Scientists have testified that interests are the first teacher to help students going into the scientific world. Paragons, such as Chopin, when he was young he made a strong interest in playing piano, he played it every day and when as a little boy, he hold a concert under his teacher`s helping; he also began writing piano pieces at that time. Finally, this interest decided his later career. From him, we can see the importance to the interest. And if there are no interests raising the education would become useless. Taking myself as an example, when I was young my parents asked me to attend computer class, the teacher only read the textbooks while teaching and he always told me how easy the computer is, when I did mistakes, he punished me. At last, I cannot bear the education way of the teacher and even afraid of him, thus I did not want to attend his classes anymore and finally lose interest in computer. Individual needs is also important, there are no different majors if the students are uniform educated. For instance, all students are required to attend the same classes, such as math, physical, chemistry, about nature science in high school, there are less students willing to go to the social science majors, after all, linguist, archeologist will become less.

Overwhelming the importance of individual needs and interests, however, may cause problems. When only highlight the individual needs and interests, students may become self-centered, they cannot bear the others who oppose them. Because everyone cannot become a generalist and big programs cannot accomplished by single one, thus cooperation becomes a vital role. Colleges, for example, do works by groups, it needs the member of one group to reach agreement and finish a project. If each of they are too individuals and cannot toleration with others, their works will never be finished.

Also, perseverance is other aspect the education needs to educate. Interests and cooperation, though, is very important, truly effective education would not be existed without developing perseverance. There is a instance that a little boy interested in running and dreamed to become an athlete, at first, he worked very hard but after a few weeks later, he gave up because it was too hard for him to keep up; then he changed his major and interested singing, it needed team work, at first he liked it, but after a few weeks, he also gave up because he thought it is too hard for him to take everyday practice though he can cooperate with others well. At last, he did nothing. From this example, the little boy both have interests and cooperation spirit but lack of perseverance.

In conclusion, from what I discussed above, truly education depends on both rising individual interests, promoting cooperation spirit and strengthening perseverance. Only stressing individual and interests can hardly achieve effective education.
