9号窗口，新手，男，瘦黑，像伊朗，巴基斯坦等地方的人，纯正美语。鉴于以前有巴
妹，我叫他巴哥吧。要是不爽，大家
在改别的名字吧：）。
背景：本科，RA2年，核工，UIIUC。 check. 我所能得到的最好的结果了。
看了很多签经，从签证的一片茫然到对每个细节的熟悉，我获益非浅。所以也来罗索一
篇，写的不好或不实之处请大家包涵：）
我上周23号约的，说实话那是看了一篇成功签经，在一分钟之内作出的决定。后来有人
分析说过得基本是文文MM。我都怀疑自己
这个工科GG是否太冲动了。不过话说回来我一直相信every one is special.不管形势如
何，不管遇见那位杀手，你自己的结果
只有你自己努力去尝试才能知道。
我144号，说要8点半到，我没有理会，向来不习惯早起。于是8点多才起床。到入口处就
我一个人了，呵呵。查了下护照，就放进去了。
到大厅里面估计已经9点40左右了。济济一堂，站满了人，估计不少于200吧。学生模样
的（F1＋J1？）有三分之一吧。
第一眼看见的HFmm,好靓哟。看起来很和蔼的样子。我估计是上午最后几个入场的，所以
一直在队尾，看不清各个窗口的情况。在等候区
一直很自在，跟人聊天（小声说没关系的），喝水上厕所都可以。还坐下来跟一位大爷
聊天。遇见一位去arizona 学chemistry的妹妹，
随便聊了聊，她9点进去的，不过后来在我后面签，祝她好运！在等候区，我觉得放松点
好，到了窗口前的队伍里面，注意举止还是必要的。有
时候喃喃自语的跟自己说英语，感觉对准备的答案很溜了。不用去算计被谁签，也不用
去关心哪个窗口的情况，这只能使自己紧张。
进去后过了将近一个小时我才弄清各个窗口（之前根本没关心，在调整自己状态）。12
3交表，4HFMM（确认是HF，not JF),5 smaller TT(很帅
）, 6(2 VO?)，7 bigger TT, 8 美男，9 我叫他巴哥。可能6，8搞混了。
刚进去喝水的时候，好像10号没人，不过这并没有影响我的情绪。一直到我签完（大约
11点50），估计有30人签过，其中女生模样的的确很多
男生模样的很少。
在我们前面一队的最后一个，巴哥签一位女生至少花了半个小时，进去N次。最后还是把
人据了。我是我们队第二个，前面是位JJ被据。那时候
过了11点半。Vo应该比较累了，他们一直站着。叫我了，中文，一般都能听懂，有几次
VO用中文隔了好几个窗口叫人，都有人响应，可见这不
是问题。
我微笑上 Vo 似乎比较严肃
M: Hi, morning Sir! how are you doing?
V: fine,how r u?
M: fine. thanks. It's time for lunch.(调侃的）
V smiling: yeah.
M: I hope I won't take you too much time(调侃的）
V smiling and seems appreciating.
silence but relaxed
M: try to broke the silence. I want to pursue my PHD at UIUC...
V: ok, wait a minute, i want to have a glance of your form. (looking at my d
s 156 quickly)
M: ok. wait patiently
V: why do you want a phd at the united states?
M: you know, a phd from an american univ is crucial to my career goal, i wan
t to be a sinor researcher in a Chinese
institute. my future dept. at UIUC has top 3 programs in my field. prof. ???
is said to no1 in his field. i want to join his
group. my future dept has created some succeful experiments and models to...
(interrupted)
V: ok, can i see you toefl and gre?
M: sure, these are my toefl and gre, i also get a certification of spoken en
glish. would you like to have a quick look? (
  可能quick这个词比较受用）。
V: sure (seems glad to see). looking at the certification first.
M: 5 seconds later, i got a B+, only 1 % get a such high grade. （吹牛！不过
当时我们院就这个比例）
V: i know your english is very good.
M: thanks.
V: and he starts to look at my GT.
M: 5 seconds later, worrying about my pretty low score. so start to say, you
know, UIUC is my second choice and MIt is my
first one.
V: 看着送分的学校，how about GIT
M: it did not admit me, but i got another offer from penn state u. but i lik
e uiuc better. prof. Jones is no1 in
thermal-hydraulics which i am most interested. i want to join his group. oh
i got a support letter from the dean of my
future dept. would u like to read?
V: ok
M: open the envelop, found my hands trembling, i think i am relaxed. smiling
, wait a minute please.
V: ok (and start to look to the computer.)
M: submit the letter carefully
V: nodded and put aside.
V: %%%%%%%%%%%%%%(居然一个词都没听出来，奇怪应该没用major 这个词）
M: puzzledly look at him
V: headed closly zhuanye!
M: oh, zhuanye! nuclear engr!
V: why nuclear engr.?
M: you know, nuclear engr. is amaimed to expand civilian use of nuclear ener
gy. one important application is to do research
on nuclear power plants. nuclear energy is amaizing. it is efficient and cle
an. it can help greatly to conserve the
evironment...(interrupted)
V: (he bigins to write down my answer on a notebook every time) have you got
your BS or MS?
M: i got my bachalor in the year of 2001. and now i am a research assistant
in the Institute of... at ... University. I am
working on public policy of nuclear energy and .... (he did not interrupts,
maybe these words draw away his attention, he
even forgets to ask me for job certification, I do not have one!)
V: what is your salary?
M: about 2000.  my career goal is to be a senior reseacher in a Chinese inst
itute...
V: what will be the salary then?
M: you know, oversea returnees always receive special salary package, the sa
lary for a senior researcher in my current
institute is not less than 120K, and the total income will be no less than 1
80K per year. if you are a leader of a research
group. your income can be expected to grow dramatically.
V: nodded and asked, why not stay in usa after graduation?
M: Because many more oppertunities and greater developing room for nuclear r
esearchers here because China has the largest new
born market and the largest number of reactors under construction. the cent
ral gov has invested large amounts of money for
the R&D of reactors. My current institute has received one billion for the r
esearch of ... a increase of 5 times is expected
in nuclear electricity in the coming 20 years in China. while in us, nuclear
electricity is decreasing and continue to
decrease...(终于interrupt me) ( while speaking, look into his eyes frankly.)

V: listened patiently and nodded sometimes. ok
M: here is a official projection of nuclear electricity in different countri
es. submitted to him.
V: looking quickly and nodded.
M: it is from doe of the US
V: ok (seems satisfied with my plan and reasons)
V: so you want to work in University?
M: no, i just want to do R&D work in institute, you know, we have quite a fe
w excellent institutes in Beijing, Shanghai and
Chengdu such as ...
V: nodded. ok (he read carefully my submitted support letter, from time to t
ime)
then left with the support letter. coming back in about 2 mins.
V: have you brought a resume?
M: yes.
seems he left again, back quickly
V: i would like to issue your visa. but i have to send your materials to was
hington. we will call you in 4-5weeks. ..
M: i appreciate your check. but i want to know if you process the check, fir
st comes first serves?
V:######### when it sent.
留下了我的DS表，support letter, resume, 其余还给我. 并在我护照上盖了个章，并
写了个G
M: have a good lunch! bye
V: goodbye !
非常兴奋的跑出来了，迎接我的是我亲爱的MM的笑脸。。。
当时太兴奋了，没有回忆起多少细节给外面踩点的朋友。希望这篇文章能作出补偿。
以上内容，Vo问的问题原文不一定如此，但大意肯定是这样的。我自己说的基本上是这
样的。
建议:1.answer questions directly to the points 而且尽量的抓住时机说一些相关的
东西，把VO的思路吸引到有利于自己方向的发展。
猜得VO可能关注什么的时候，主动说一些东西，当然一边察言观色，至少确认人家
不反感。另外，VO正在忙碌着看你表上的信息或电脑中
的信息的时候，just wait patiently, be silent.
2:多锤炼自己的答案，中心句先说，不要用虽然但是的句型，老美喜欢直线思维，
喜欢：points, conclusion first, then reasons( a
set of facts),只要说上几条reasonable facts,他们就开始认可你的conclutions 了。
尽量避免用贬义词（或者不好听的词）。让自己的句子
说起来很顺（思维的连贯性＋顺口）.
3.多VO，老实说，这次是我感觉最放松的VO，我记得第一二次被人VO时候，被人问
的很窘迫的样子，呵呵。后来终于理解了如何才不能被
对方牵着走。多说给自己听，看看答案是否有很强的facts,reasonable 的感觉。对着镜
子练也不错：）
4.有人说要有气势，我认为不是那种特意追求字正腔园的大声说英语，不如用平时
跟人谈话那种语调好。
5.衣着neat and clean.建议别穿蓝色衬衣，因为那儿的工作人员（中国人）都穿这
个颜色的，个人认为比较别扭，没有人见怪吧：）,不
用领带，因为很少人打。
