In this recommendation, the author argues that the Fancy Toy Company should employ Rosa Winnings to replace Pat Salvo who is the president of the toy company. To support the conclusion, the author points out that the toy company's profits have fallen considerably, in the last three quarters of this year, without citing any survey. Meanwhile, the author indicates that Starlight jewelry company's profits have increased dramatically over the past several years, and Rosa is the company's currently president. However, the recommendation relies on dubious assumptions, which render it unconvincing as it stands.

First, the author does not provide any evidence to show that the fall in profits is related with Pat Salvo. There are many reasons could lead to profit fall, for example, currently global financial crisis could hit the company and influence its associated industry which could increase the company's cost. Besides, cutthroat competition could also lead to the Fancy Toy Company profit fall.

Even the reasons of this is itself factors, it is unfair to infer that Pat Salvo should bear all responsibility. An entire company is so complicated that it is consisted of many independent departments, such as production department, sales department, service department and so on. Any problem from any apartment or any person could damage the company. For example, Barings bank was the oldest bank in London, but it was brought down in 1995 due to unauthorized trading by its head dericatives trader , Nick Leeson.

Second, the author also fall to prove that profit rise of Starlight jewelry company is result from Rosa Salvo. Because she is currently president of the company, in over the past several yeas, the company profit rise may due to former president's successful strategy. Moreover, reduction of mining gemstone could also increase the price of jewelry.

Even if Rosa really help the jewelry company achieve continue profitability, it is unconvincing that a president of jewelry company is suit to toy company. Fancy Toy Company and Starlight jewelry company are two types of company. They are different in many factors, for example the main target customer: the former is children, the latter is women. The different could directly influences two companies' different marketing strategy. Further, there productions are also different: toy which is made from cotton, cloth and many other things from light industry product; the latter jewelry is made from gemstone, whose production is related with mining industry. Those determine that two companies have the totally different industry chains. If a manager does not have in-depth knowlege of the concerned industry, it is uncriedle that he or she could run a company well.

In conclusion, before finding out whether Fancy Toy company profit fall should due to Pat Salvo, and whether Rosa Winnings really help Starlight jewelry company continue profitability. Based on such doubtful assumption, it is questionable to recommend that the Fancy Toy Company should employ Rosa Winnings to replace Pat Salvo. The only thing we can sure is that the company will have to
pay Rosa twice the salary than Pat.
