Competition is ultimately more beneficial than detrimental to society
Today, science and technology developed quickly, more and more people have realized the importance of competition. Competition exists everywhere, among countries or companies, even everyone. Competition is the motive power that impels the society becoming advanced and civilized.
Competition is human's instinct for they hope to live well in the world. All of us know there are competitions even among animals or plants, and the winners have survived until one day the other types that are better than them eliminate them. Our world has evolved like this. Human being have existed for so long time because they continually compete with the surrounding and the other living thing, at first they adapt to the climate and environment, resisting all kinds of disasters, then they learn how to use facility, and to labor and prey animals, step by step they have been the advanced species in the earth, so at last they are chosen by the nature and become the owner of the world.
Now, in our daily life, competition has influenced us very much. No competition, everyone will forget their responsibility and become lazy. No competition, everyone will depend others and want to gain no pains. Twenty years ago, in China, planed economy displaced competition (market-based economy), there was no competition between factories and companies. Every factories and companies only finished the planed order, no matter what the products is better or not, they will accept the task next year, which made the distinct difference from developed countries. Subsequently people realized competition is indispensability to economy. Today our development of economy is under market-based economy condition. Competition is necessary not only to country but to single person. Through competition, nobody can attain achievement unless he tries his best to work or study hard. It is the most efficient method to estimate which one is the best.
However, first of all, we must guarantee the competition is a fair competition. Only at impartial conditions, we can believe competition is ultimately beneficial to our society. We find the competition, which lose its effect not for competition itself but for people who participate in competition. They don't compete with others impartially. For example, examination is a kind of competition, which can let teacher know who is good at this subject, but if someone peeked others paper, this examination would lose its effect. On the other hand, those arbiters who judge a competition must be fair and not be corrupted. Otherwise competition is ultimately more detrimental to society.
Meanwhile, many persons, who can't face too many problems, even feel pressure under more competitions, some of whom commit suicide to escape competition. This attitude is wrong. Actually there are a lot of competitions in our modern society. When we are childhood, we are bound to study hard in order to enter a good high school, a good university. After graduation, we are to face the competition to find a good job. Finding a job, you may face all sorts of competition, which make you tied and nervous. You should learn to release yourself and forgive your defeats in competition, and at the same time we should realize only if bravely to face the competition, we would find the success that we can't meet in common hours. |
