WORDS: 624 TIME: 上午 12:45:00 DATE: 2007-8-15
With the development of the digital technology, the video carema enjoy an increasing status in documenting. The speaker asserts it provides an accurate and convincing record of contemporary life and it has become a mor important form than written record. I concede that in some circumstance, camera really provides evidence which written record can not substitude, however, the written has its advantages which is also indispensable. To better support my points of view, I will analyze in details.
To begin with, a video camera can provide us temporal and spetial records which happen around the world everytime and everty where. That is to say, once an event happens, we will be immediately imformed, without any delay. By displaying the vivid images and sound, we are impressed with the events appriciate the advantages of the video camera. While for written record, such as newpapers, we should wait until the second day the reports was release by the editor. For example, one can never enjoy a NBA game through the written words. Consider, when others are watching a live broadcast in front of a TV set, maybe those who live in rural place have to wait for the newpaper to come to know the results. It so happens to the latest news and business information. With a video camera, we are able to keep abreast with the pace of the world.
On the second hand, video camera also acts as a anti-crime tool, which written records will never succeed to do so for the simple reason that a video camera cannot lie. It provide accurate detail of the spetial and temporal events. When it comes to the courts, a video clip is almost the most important evidence to prove one man is innocent or not----every thing is contained in the short clip. But for written record, one can easily modify it , dump it , or even damage it, rendering the evidence disappear without trace. Statictics show that it is much easier for a judge to give an end to a conflict when a video clip is involved. As a result, a person who is apt to commit a crime may feel scared when he notice that a tiny video camera is likely to hide behind somewhere which record every thing he had done. So he may abandon the notion of crime. All the above mentioned has convinced us the advantages a video camera brings is somewhat beyond our imagination.
However, video camera can not take the place of written records in some area for its certain shortcoming. First it is expensive to use a video camera to record. As is known to us, a video camera is costly and to ensure it work normally one should be aware of how to use it, and a video tape is also needed. On the contrary, written records is more convenient. Every one is able to access it. Once some big events happen, we can take a note in a notebook with ease. Second, paper record is used widely in education and social affairs. The book is one of persuasive examples. To express some abstract and abstruse ideas, there is no better way than a written record. Bookshops are still enjoy a high popularity than video shops. People can cost less and gain more information by reading books. Although video provide the latest information, it does not systemize this information and people tend to be confused facing a myriad of bewildering information.
To sum up, both the two means of documenting is indispensable and they cannot substitude each other. When one need to record an event in detail, a video camera is the best choice, while when it comes to recording some abstract ideas, written records are more suitable. |
