This statement asserts that artist, not the critic of art, provides something of lasting value to society. I agree with the statement. Although there definitely is a one-side feud between artists and critics, and the critic can help us understand and appreciate art, when given the choice one who gives lasting value to the society, my respond will be the former without hesitating.

No matter just written in water or having far-reaching impacts, it’s the artist, rather than the critic, who gives the society something originally at first. Years later, maybe some of the artists’ works will still popular and some not, but the value of one work determined by it creator, not the judger. Every critic provides us a unique aspect to understand the artist and his or her works, but that’s all references and it’s the audiences themselves who make a finale decision to evaluate the work.
True appreciation of art occurs at the moment we encounter art; it is the emotional, even visceral impact that art has on our senses, spirits, and souls that is the real value of art. Attractive, inspiring, purifying our soul, insight and appreciation of history……, from these elements, we can appreciate one art work without critics’ guidance. But if there are no artists at all to create the work, can thousands of critics working diligently to create “value”, let alone “lasting value”.

Ancient carvings and cave-wall paintings attest to the statement. One of the most functions of art is that it reflects important aspects of people’s lives at that age. When it comes to ancient man, what could have been more important than food and reproduction? So that ancient art is ripe with images of hunting and pregnant women. From these pieces of art, we can deduce the life of our long forgotten ancestors thousand years later. Almost all of the artists and archeologists are grateful for these early smart brains, but seldom of them would care about the critiques of this work at that time.

Admittedly, critic also gives the society something of value, even it’s not lasting. I admit that the general attitude of artists to critics is unfair. They expect from critics an imaginative comprehension which in the nature of the case only a creative artist can possess. On the other hand, a creative artist cannot do the work of a critic because he has neither the time nor the inclination to master the necessary critical apparatus. Hence critical work seldom or never satisfied the artist, and the artist's ideal of what critical work ought to be is an impossible dream.

To sum up, the ostensible functions of the critic is of limited value, let alone of lasting value, to society. On the other hand, the artist, through works of art, provides an invaluable and unique mirror of the culture of the time during which the work was produced a mirror for the artist's contemporaries and for future generations to gaze into for insight and appreciation of history. The art critic in a subordinate role, more often than not, play a role of guidance and interpretation.

No matter just written in water(written in water学习一下) or having far-reaching impacts, it’s the artist, rather than the critic, who gives the society something originally at first. Years later, maybe some of the artists’ works will still popular(popular是形容词,语法是不不太对啊?) and some not, but the value of one work determined by it creator, not the judger. Every critic provides us a unique aspect to understand the artist and his or her works, but that’s all references and it’s the audiences themselves who make a finale decision to evaluate the work.

One of the most functions (most functions是什么意思?)of art is that it reflects important aspects of people’s lives at that age. When it comes to ancient man, what could have been more important (可换成vital , significant等)than food and reproduction? So that ancient art is ripe with images of hunting and pregnant women. From these pieces of art, we can deduce the life of our long forgotten ancestors thousand years later. Almost all of the (the 可以去掉) artists and archeologists are grateful for these early smart brains, but seldom(换成few是不好些?) of them would care about the critiques of this work at that time.

Admittedly, critic also gives the society something of value, even it’s not lasting. I admit that the general attitude of artists to critics is unfair. They expect (感觉expect 作为vt.的用法好像更多些) from critics an imaginative comprehension which in the nature of the case only a creative artist can possess.

On the other hand, the artist, through works of art, provides an invaluable and unique mirror of the culture of the time during which the work was produced a mirror for the artist's contemporaries and for future generations to gaze into for insight and appreciation of history.(这句很猛!) The art critic in a subordinate role, more often than not, play a role of guidance and interpretation.(结尾写的很好。对两者都有所说明~学习)

好地方很多,我就不说啦。
个人认为总觉得还有些地方有些啰嗦比如When it comes to ancient man, what could have been more important than food and reproduction?。
改的不好的地方多多包涵哦。
