Idealism, as opposition of materialism or realism in the field of spirit, usually refers to a theory that essential nature of reality relies in consciousness or reason, or that only mental states or entities are knowable. Concerning idealism, the author asserts that idealism admired by many people usually result to them disappointed or troublesome. This view, in my eyes, is fundamentally irrational in wrongly judging a theory by a standard of substance. To better express my view let me illuminate case-by-case analysis in details.

Admittedly, with the absence of confidence and courage, many disappointment and trouble resulting from failure or frustration more often than not relate to a certain ideal or idealism, but those failure and frustration should not necessarily result from ideal or idealism in despite of being the correlation between them. It should be the vivid contrast between ideal and reality that lead to disappointment and trouble rather than idealism itself. Considering, for example, in the era of advocating hero and personality, a boy maybe admire Bill Gates just because of his huge success and vast treasure, or of his maverick behavior of giving up good opportunity in Harvard, but if the young escape from the No.1 university to follow Bill's step, it is likely possible that disappointment of failure is certainly waiting for him in the pursuit of success or individuality. Were the young defeated by the failure and frustration, he would not have the right to enjoy the happy of going beyond failure or fulfilling ideal. In a manner, for them to admire idealism means to admire success, it is the misunderstanding of idealism that leads to disappointment or trouble in thought and then result in failure in action rather than their ideal. Therefore, anyone who wants to be successful must realize the fact there is a huge gap between ideal and success, and going beyond disappointment and frustration is necessary for them to get to success.

Human beings, as the intellectual creatures in the globe, has been creating and changing history by the aid of ideal or idealism. One of the most differences between human beings and animal is for beings always to anticipate and reconstruct future. In a manner, it is impossible for beings to accurately forecast the future in advance. Then to some extent, any action of human beings could involve of the trail of imagination or idealism. In our daily life, it is easily acceptable for us to demonstrate ideal as conceptual design, considering Jules Verne, as the father of science fiction, can better express this point. In Verne's writing, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, many modern scientific products' original shadows could be emerged out, such as submarine, generator, and so on. Of course, those ideas are full of not only author's eminent thought and ideal but his experiences and insights. Maybe Verne’s ideas could not be acceptable by his contemporary, and even result in them disappointing and frustrating just for different experiences and value systems except for ideal itself.

In some sense, the idealism is the original force to promote our society forward. Throughout the whole history of human beings' civilization, where idealism is, there will idealist and thinker be, and there will the society be thriving also. Without the ideal of hovering on the sky alike eagle, the airplane could not be in flight; without the appetite of exploring the space, the Apollo II could not be on the surface of moon; without the pursuit of freedom, equality and human rights, the democracy could not be sprout on the globe. In the front of excellent and splendid achievements, human beings should be more tolerant with those transitory troubles leaded by idealism, and have more confidence and courage to overcome short-lived disappointment to embrace idealism.

In summary, from the above discussions, idealism, as a bridge between dream and reality, could help human beings to transcend our own self and go forward to the future. When realism beckons to us, follow him, though his way are hard and steep; and when his brilliance enlightens us, yield him, though brilliant sheen could blind or trouble us; and when he speaks to us, believe him, though his voice may shatter our dream to disappoint us.
