Young people graduated from high schools are encouraged to work or travel for a year before getting into universities in some countries. Advocates of this practice argue that this allows students to learn more about the real word, while opponents say that teenagers should pay all their attention to university enrollment examination. Well, in my opinion, a student need to think comprehensively about his or her own situation before making his decision independently.

There are obviously some advantages in this practice adopted by many countries. First of all, we all need to learn how to be a good person before we become a person good at something. Students graduated from high school have already learned the basic knowledges that we may need for all our life. One year travelling around the world, experiencing different culture, keeping away from classroom, book and homework is really good for the young to learn about the most important thing he need to know: how to be a good person.

Secondly, we learn about something at school in hope that one day we can put it into practice. It's more important to know how to avoid getting infected, than to know about the characteristics of epidemic diseases. A year working provides teenagers a good chance to put what they have learned into practice. And when they finished, they will know more about what they've learned at school.

But one year working or travelling also has its disadvantage. Teenagers must do their best in order to get into ivy league universities . The competition is really fierce. It's frankly mimic warfair. So many parents want their child to pay all their attention to study, and to the preparation for the university enrollment examination.

In conclusion, it's really hard to say a year working or travelling after graduated from high school is good or bad. It depends on your propriety. Which one do you prefer, more life experience, or an offer from ivy league university?
