2013-06-22 NA 口语写作机经

今天刚考完,贡献一下机经,希望自己可以考到26分。

S1

Which of the activities do you prefer to do by yourself or with a group of people?

1.   Study

2.    Exercise

3.   Shopping

S2 Do you prefer a job with a lot of business travels or without business travels?

S3 Passage: Students in the university orchestra will perform in local school. They will have more chances to perform and inspire the kids to learn musical instruments

Conversation: The man likes this idea. He gives two reasons. The first one is that students in the university orchestra only can perform once at the end of the semester. They practice and rehearse a lot. So it is a shame to perform once and the policy will give them more chances to perform.  Secondly, they perform the concerts in local schools which will inspire the kids to learn musical instruments. It gets harder to learn when older. The man did not learn violin very young. He had spent quite some time to catch up with others. He thought if he started learning violin at a younger age, it would be easier for him.

S4 Passage: Credence goods. Consumers have to buy and use them based on the trust or credence that the goods are good.

Lecture: The professor tells us an example of nutrition supplements. An Ad stated that calcium is important for us, which keeps the bone healthy and strong. People usually don’t take enough calcium so the ad suggested people to buy and take calcium supplements. The professor didn’t think his bones had any problem but he believed that this Ad makes sense. So he bought and took calcium supplement. The professor did not feel any change after taking the calcium supplement. While he took the calcium supplement assuming that it worked.

S5

The woman drove her mom’s car to the campus but her mom’s car did not have the parking permit. Her class would begin in 5 minutes and there was a test in the class. The man suggested her to leave her mom’s car where it was. It was almost the end of the day and the parking lot was full of cars. And police may not spot her mom’s car. However, the parking ticket was expensive. The woman did not want to take the risk of getting a parking ticket. Then the man offered her another solution. The woman could run quickly to the parking lot and move her mom’s car to a place which did not require a parking permit. The woman worried that she would be late for the class.

S6 Animals live in harsh environment and they have developed some adaptations to survive. In desert, the food was scare. So animals develop two adaptation to find enough food them themselves. The first adaptation is that animals have to cover large area foraging for food with less energy. Kangaroos will jump or hop in the desert looking for food. If they run, they have to use more energy. By keeping the momentum of jumping or hopping, they could search a larger area with less energy. The second adaption is that animals have to find a way to store food as fat. Lizards will eat as much as they can when they find small insects or birds. They store food as fat in their tails so their tails could double in size. When there is a food scarcity, lizards could use the fat stored in their tails to survive.

R1

Passage: three ways to avoid space debris from colliding with spaceships. tracking technology, spaceship shield, and laser broom.

Lecture: The professor is against three methods. Tracking technology will only track bigger debris. Small debris travel fast and collision caused them are fatal. For example, a chip of paint from one spaceship collided with another spaceship. The small debris smashed on another spaceship’s wall and created a hole. Shield method is not good too since it adds extra weight to the spaceship. We need to develop more powerful rocket to deliver the spaceship to the space. The challenge is harder for us. Finally, the professor doesn’t like laser broom idea. A laser broom with such power could be used a military weapon in space, which violates the international agreement.

R2. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Is it just as important for older people to study and learn new things as it is for younger people too?

Please feel free to paste it on any forum because the internet should be a place full of freedom. And it is my time to pay back. Let’s nail iBT!
