    首先我们都能清晰地注意到题目中出现了一组对比，一个是science 一个是art。且不管题中别的要素。我们在看到“science”这个词的时候联想到的很可能是“最新成果”、“基因图”、“新材料”、“火箭”、“核武器”这样的一类词；而在看到“art”时脑海中浮现的大概会是一幅画、一场音乐会或者一本小说。如果我突然问：基因图和音乐会有什么区别呢？大家大概都会愣一下，然后同情地看我一眼……咳咳Orz好吧，说正经的。说到science和art的区别，大家仔细想想就可以发现，science代表的总是一类具体而有确定界限的事物，只有在真正意义上存在了的、可以观察到的且经过反复求证认定的东西才可以被称作科技成果。而艺术却是纯出于个人心灵的东西，是独特的，也是没有延续性和继承性的。因此我们只听说过科技在前一个科学家之后的不断发展而没有听过艺术在一个艺术家之后的不断延续。
    可以说，科学代表着“发现”，而艺术却是“寻求”。这两个词的意义大不一样，大家应当好好体味一下。因此我们应当想到科学是迈着多么坚实的步子在向前走啊~而艺术方面鬼才、怪才却不在少数。并且这样的人才更有可能得到超越前人的价值。这两者的形成方式就可以看出很多区别。
    再说说reassure。如果是虚无缥缈的东西，能让你产生稳定安全感吗？而upset，如果摆在你面前的东西很确定就是那样一件事物，你若想围绕它联想出一些事物、智慧或者创见，一般人大概也是很难做到的。科学和艺术的产生途径也可以看出很多差别。
    至于产生的效果，请大家格叽格叽（一休那个是这个吗……Orz）积极想想^^
    当然，一切笼统的概念之后都会有漏洞，想从反面写的同学也要注意。

upset的理解可能是发展思路的关键，既然是比较性题目就有必要从science&arts reassure&upset两个方面开展。
  首先，站在从事者的角度上（即scientist和artist）science鲜明的特征是方法论，即有章可循 有法可依，拿做实验来说，只要按照方法，你做我做，结果都一样~抄别人实验报告绝对reassure，心里踏实
再想想练书法，柳严欧赵大家都临摹，可是出来的作品有高有下，绝无雷同~学艺术的童鞋要看天分，够让人upset~
  science的发展，有着鲜明的继承发展关系。没有牛顿，爱因斯坦恐怕永远是专利局的小职员吧~前人栽树后人乘凉，这难道不reassure吗？？？
  至于art，似乎颠覆的成分更占主流（当然继承必不可少），绘画上的写实派，抽象派；诗歌上的豪放派，婉约派；皇家园林和江南园林不都体现着对立吗~或许这种对立就是upset~
  再从science和art的受众来说，人的第一感性认识就是，science多实在啊！头上明亮的电灯，眼前的电脑，不都是拜science所赐？science可以实实在在的提高社会发展水平，效果有目共睹，够functional。至于art，相比之下显得有些尴尬，同一件作品，热爱者视之甚于生命，大部分人却视之如草芥。伯牙难觅子期，upset~我听《那一夜》，你羞辱我，同样upset~艺术，绝对是件upset的事~
PS：突然想到了一道填空题，就是说Chinese pleasure garden的那个，提到了一个agreeable melancholy（愉悦的忧伤？忧伤的愉悦？？）这似乎解释upset的含义：欣赏艺术品时的那种矛盾的心理~~~~~可如何将这解释好，现在还一筹莫展，望有达人释义~

就是颠覆传统··· 你看暂时能想到的名家名画名作都是从某个角度颠覆传统的··· 绘画的手法，创作的工具····
也不知道这样理解对不对···

“我们只听说过科技在前一个科学家之后的不断发展而没有听过艺术在一个艺术家之后的不断延续。”

不同意说没有听说过艺术在一个艺术家之后的不断延续，若是没有艺术的延续，那么以前的民间艺术怎么会流传至今呢，而且民间艺术之所以如此著名，也是经历了几代人的传承发展吧，才将其展现得惟妙惟肖。全世界各大艺术流派亦如此吧。
其实不太明白题目是什么意思…科学一定就让人reassure吗? 如果研究出来癌症就是无药可治呢，如果发现海平面上升而人类没有办法呢，或者明天真的是世界末日…而艺术为什么会upset呢?艺术不是陶冶情操，在心情烦闷的时候，看一部电影，听一首曲子，唱一首歌以抒发心情的苦闷…突然发现题目中说，the purpose of art is TO upset. 难道是说艺术的目的是为了upset?
查了一下韦氏，intransitive verb
: tobecome overturned
adj. : emotionally disturbed or agitated
大概意思就是心情会被搅乱吧，难道是说艺术创作的目的是将心情搅乱?

首先搞清楚 科学 和 艺术的定义吧，我觉得不同字典的举例比较好，比如科学包括 物理，生物，化学；艺术包括，绘画，雕塑等等。
再次搞清楚reasure，和upset，我理解为 放心，和担心。具体例子没太想好，这个东西很主观，reassure和upset是个人感觉，具体的例子还没有想好。
这道题，比较宽泛，自己现在还没有找到好的切入点。

Science has performed a function of reassuring us about the reality. As we know, in ancient time, people knew little about the cause of the disasters, so they considered them as the signs of the God. Every time a disaster happened, they became so scared and suspected that they were judging by the God and would be wiped out. With the development of science, it makes people starting to believe that all these disasters are merely common nature phenomena unrelated to the God, and this gives human confidence to live on the earth. Hence, science is a process of seeking the laws and principles of our world. The advances in science help us to triumph over the fear of unknowns around us. (（这段语言没什么问题，主要是内容，科学帮助人类了解未知世界，使人们消除无知的恐惧，从而可以放心的生活。这点可以具体举些别的例子。不要泛泛的谈灾难造成人们恐惧，现在的仍然会给人们造成恐惧的，即使人们知道这不是神的旨意。而且对待很多灾难人类仍然无能为力，比如海地的地震）)

However, science does not always act as reassuring(reassurance是不是好些？), it can upset especially when a scientific finding is opposed to conventional and traditional sentiments. Just image how you are confused and upset when you confront with the counterintuitive Quantum theory for the first time. According to the Quantum Theory, everything in the cosmos is made up of “wave-function”, which is nothing but information of possibilities. The fact that is tangible, or physical, is because an observation “collapses” its wave-function into a physical object. In other words, if there is no conscious observation by human beings, there is nothing tangible exists. OH! How odd it is! If we don’t look at the moon, there is no moon exists. In short, science sometimes makes people confused and upset.（这个角度自己好没想到，学习了）


Now, let’s turn to art. It is undoubtedly that art is important in our life. It would never do for us to realize full lives without arts. Art is a means of self-expression on topics of emotional or intellectual concern to the artist and, sometimes, to society at large. In other words, art is a surrealistic image which is reformed according to the real world, and therefore art, on the one hand, is the reflection and appreciation of the reality, while on the other, art is the transcendental detachment from the reality. There are not only realistic arts but also romantic arts, and art can not only expresses the noblest and most beautiful sentiments of human in the world, but also reveals and castigates the dark and evil side of the society. When we listen to an andante of Mozart, read a fairy tale of Oscar Wilde, appreciate the Mona Lisa of Da Vinci, and immerse in the copious fountains of art, we will be spiritually liberated, and be very refreshing and reassuring. However, when we read <Tess of the D'Urbervilles> of Thomas Hardy, it will grieve us with the tragic fate of Tess, and we will be resentive and disappointed about the false morality. In brief, art not only expresses beauty of real life but also reveals the ugly of the reality. 两者有共同点，就是创新和原创。

但是我不知道题目的意思应该怎么样继续挖掘，它说两者各自的性质包含其中，那么是不是说就只有这两点性质，而且相互不交叉？ 这样的话，那题目也太局限了，科学也需要upset， 艺术也应该有时候要 reassure的吧（对艺术不太懂）~~~
