还不太清楚托福作文的评分标注,我这篇作文大概会在哪个档次呀。
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Readingfiction (such as novels and short stories) is more enjoyable than watchingmovies.
Fiction is of course one of the most treasurespeople invented, which plays an indispensable role in the modern times. However,it has also created considerable controversy. People could help but wondering, “Isreading fiction really more enjoyable than watching movies?” My Chinese teacherin high school used to say,” Nothing can be compared with the beauty offictions.” I believe the quotation has given us the answer of the above question:It is sure that reading fiction is more enjoyable than watching movies.
For starters, fictions which have the mostbeautiful words in the world are able to give us more imaginations, howevermovies can’t. The reason is that fictions can let your imaginations run freelywhile the meanings in the movies are confirmed which you can’t change. Afteryour reading the fictions, you can have different versions of movies while moviesonly come from one fiction. Just take my favorite fiction Harry Potter for example.I like the fiction so much that I nearly spend the whole week reading about itand it opens a new magic world for me. Nevertheless, if you just watch themovies-of course I don’t mean the movie is not good-you can’t let you imaginationroar in your spacious mind. I remember Ailing Zhang, one of the most famousmodern fiction authors in China, used to comment, “Marriage is the end of love, however, is also the beginning of love.” Even the most beautiful scene of theshots can’t present the full meaning of this word.
Besides, fiction, of course, is a moreeconomical means than movie watching. I just spend 30 Yuan in Chinese money, about 5 dollars in US money, to buy the book, while watching a movie will costeven more than a book. And the most important is that you can’t preserve thescene of the movie in your mind for a long time however the book can be storedpreciously as a treasure. That is the reason why some precious novels, such as ‘twocountries and two tales’, ‘Princess Snow White’, can be passed down and theknowledge can be passed down. Otherwise, you will never have a chance to seethese great novels of such great novelists.
Admittedly, the movies have their ownadvantages such as active, colorful, and so on. Many children like to watch cartoonmovies so much because they can understand what the meaning is in the movies andhave more colorful and vivid scene while the novels are difficult for them tolearn at such a young age and a little boring they might think. Yet, thebenefits are outweighed by those of the fictions.
In conclusion, as J.K. Rowling, one of themost famous writers in United States now, has wisely put it,” the mostbeautiful thing in the world is words.” However, according to the surveyconducted by China Daily, the children spend too much time on movies and theyare less likely to choose novels for pleasures. Of course, this is not good forthe all-round development of our adolescents. We should take some measures to encouragethem to read more novels which are the real treasure that ancestors want totell us. |
