Duties and Responsibilities : We are inviting applicants to a postdoctoral fellow position at
the Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Population Health. We propose to perform
a data analysis of the Health and Retirement Survey (HRS, begun in
1992 and ongoing) that has nationally representative health interview data for over 20 years,
as well as biomarkers (HbA1c, total and HDL cholesterol, CRP, cystatin C), physical
assessment information (blood pressure, weight, and waist circumference), some prescription
drug data, and claims linkages including Medicare D drug claims. The HRS allows us to
evaluate key variables longitudinally, and to consider management and its changes over
years. Our research will test the hypotheses that: 1) CVD/disability development in diabetes
follows several distinct trajectories with different predictors and risks that differ by age; 2)
CVD explains the risk of disability more in people with diabetes under 75 than in those older;
3) Risk stratification models for CVD and disability outcomes in diabetic subjects based on
recent diverse cohorts and information from dynamic models.
Position Qualifications : The candidate should have a doctoral degree in statistics,
biostatistics, computer science, informatics or other related fields. Candidates with strong
quantitative research background and experience working with large scale data are desirable.
Strong computational and communication skills are essential.
Salary Range: based on applicant’s qualification
