1儿童世界和社会有很大差别

Socialization, as far as I am concerned, is about how to adjust one’s behaviour to be acceptable by the society. From this point of view, I agree with this claim that the socialization of children determines the destiny of the society. But I do not think we have not learned how to raise them. The fact, however, is that we exclude ourselves from children’s socialization.
There is a large gap between children's world and adults' society. The adults' society is sophisticated and complicated while the children's world is pure and simple. Children do not need to consider how to raise the family, how to deal with the intricate interpersonal relationship, how to please the boss. The only thing they need to take care of is the study. All they do everyday is just play around and communicate with other children they like. In contrast, adults need to contact and communicate with many people, and whether they like them or dislike is not the most important thing in their mind. For example, a man may need to tolerate his boss even though he does not like his opinions or his personality. For children, they can simply choose to stay away from those who they do not like, or even to do some drastic behaviour such as to beat them. Children have their own rules to direct their behaviours, which is more direct, simpler and sometimes more drastic than adults' rules.
Because of the difference between the two worlds, many children will feel difficult and frustrated to be accustomed to the society after they grow up, which may lead to some serious problems. One thing many Chinese employers have complained a lot is that they often find that their new graduate workers lack of some basic social skills. As an adult, one often needs to compromise, to negotiate, and to avoid conflicts. But these newcomers often behave in immature or even childish ways. It is found that they often complain and have conflicts with their colleagues. As a result, they are usually described by many adult people as immature, childish and unsocial. Or even worse, some young men use some extreme ways to represent their discontent by committing crimes. For instance, Jiajue Ma, a college student, killed his four roommates because of some small conflicts. Clearly the growing process of Ma did not make him socialize and consequently he still likes to use children’s direct nut more extreme way to solve social problem—killing. Social critics and researchers point out that the society fails to socialize children and attribute the failure to our ignorance of raising children.
However, I disagree with this conclusion. What we need to learn to socialize children? We have been socialized so we know what the socialization is. The only thing we need to teach children is just our own experience, our history and stories. We help them to define values and rules from what we have learned in our lives. It is not an impossible task as the construction of Babel. We can directly and easily talk and communicate with our children we often see and stay together with. Unfortunately, we often fail to do so because we alienate ourselves from children’s world. How many times are you so impatient to hear children’s talking about their schools and friends because you regard it as childish. How many time did you interrupt children’s complain because you were bored by businesses and working issues. Many surveys indicate that children feel lonely and prefer to stay with their peers who are also unsocialized. In fact, to help children be socialized does not need to take us so much time, but patience. Besides parents, communities and schools can also do their own contribution to the socialization such as encouraging children to participate in neighborhood and social activities. There are not much things we need to learn to socialize children, but there are a lot of things needs to be done.
In conclusion, children's socialization process is so vital that it needs us to be more involved in the process. We need to focus more and get ourselves more involved in the process. After all, as a proverb said, “the world belongs to us and the children, but it will finally belong to children alone.” It is the child who can build a better future, but we need to help them first. |
