With the development of science, the technologies today are becoming more and more complex and unimaginable. As our life today is ringing on these new technologies, some people believe that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present. However, I can not totally agree with such opinion, as the history, even can do little in some aspects, in most situations, can help us realize the present and foresee the further.

I do accept that life today is totally different with the lift in the past, which does make a huge gap between past and present. Thanks to the phone calls, now we can communicate with friends or families who are thousands of kilometers away. And with Internet, we can know what happen, big or small, in the world in each second. The new and complex information technology knit a web that get the whole world together. The era that we have to wait the “write back” for several months is gone and the feeling for such experience can do little to guide people's life today. Not mentioned the transportation system, which has experienced several fundamental transform after the Industrial Revolution. has also change the rate of people lift in the present. In all the aspects I mentioned above, looking back for an understanding of the past can do nothing seems sound and convincing.

However, the difference is superficial and, if we dig out deeper, we will find that they are closely connected with each other under the surface, in the intellectual, moral and ethical aspects, which is the basic element of our society.
No matter how we connect with our friends, the purpose is always the same. We do not want to be alone, which decided by our human nature. So we can easily reveal what our present spiritual condition actually is, if we can understand the same feeling of our ancestor, in spite of the different communication ways. The examples are all around us, like the tradition, which is obviously based on the understanding of the past. In China, people always get home and get together in New Year festival, which is totally the same as what they have done in thousands of years ago. And the tradition to gather with the families members actually guides the people's life in all aspects, including the present. Granted that the technologies are different, our human nature is always the same no matter how new and complex the society is.

Furthermore, history is always telling vivid stories to guide us about the future. England, China and German all were the most powerful empire in the world. However these great empires all collapsed. Why? Only the history can tell us the reason. And only understanding the history, we can avoid failing in the same way. Think about the war and peace in human history. It seems that all the era is the replay of last age, even the "actors" are changed. The rise and fall of different nations are extremely similar. There is so much we can get from the analysis of the past. This great treasure are buried in the dust of time, but it can clearly guide the whole society or the nation if we can unearth them.

To sum up, without the understanding of the past, we can only see the superficial different between we and the past; without the understanding of the past, we will forget our cultures; without understanding of the past, we will get into the circle of history and never realize that. In my opinion, understanding of the past is significant important in not only guidance what the life is in the present but also guide what we should do now for a better future.

Quyuan committed suicide by jumping into the river after he write his world famous book <Li Sao> and feel hopeless of his country. So the Chinese in ancient throw rice dumpling to keep the fish away from Quyuan’s body. If we do not understand the past, such action would be confusing and the purpose of such action would be lost. On the other hand if we all familiar with Quyuan, we will still inspired by the spirit of this great poet, like patriotism, sage and courage, in spite of the great time gap between him and us. The history contains ultimate intellectual wealth to guide us.

World War I and World War II are extremely similar, as they are all caused by the appearance of new big powers, no matter it is German or England. The rise and fall of these new powerful nations are extremely similar in the history river. There is so much we can get from the analysis of the World War and these great treasures buried in the dust of time can clearly guide the whole society or the nation for a better and peaceful future.
To sum up, without the understanding of the past, we can only see the superficial different between we and the past; without the understanding of the past, we will forget our cultures and lose intellectual treasures; without understanding of the past, we will get into the circle of history and never realize that. In my opinion, understanding of the past is significant important in not only guidance what the life is in the present but also guide what we should do now for a better future.

What are the limits of our duty to study history? As today is new and complex, the past have little influence in living in the present. The statement raises an issue about history. On balance, however, I fundamentally agree with the notion that it is not easy to grasp today, but history should be studied because it is essential to（for） individuals and to society, and because it harbors（不懂这个词除了港口还有什么动词意思。。。。） beauty.

As I see it, there are two fundamental arguments for how history guides present life. According to this argument, the first is about history offers a storehouse of information about how people and societies behave. How can we understand genius, the influence of technological innovation, or the role that beliefs play in shaping family life, if we don't use what we know about experiences in the past? Even the recourses（求助对象？） depend on historical information, except for in limited(for in???这个插入语没明白), often artificial cases in which experiments can be devised to determine how people act.（没明白这句话想说什么。。。）Consequently, history must serve, however imperfectly, as our laboratory. This, fundamentally, is why we cannot stay away from history: it offers the only extensive evidential base for the contemplation and analysis of how societies function, and people need to have some sense of how societies function simply to run their own lives. To sum up.the issue of the past and today is a complex one,requiring us to think about what kind of history should be studied.Many of the benefits of history derive from various kinds of history,whether local or national or focused on one culture or the world.However,innovation requires emancipating our minds and keeping pace with the ceaseless progress today,we can no longer rely solely on the past to develop and expand the society.

If you don't learn to type, you will hardly chat with others on the net. If you do not understand the function of the Facebook, you will hardly enjoy the convenient that Facebook brings. Thus, we should learn by ourselves to understand the modern technology, because once you fail, you will behind the times.

But, is the past providing little guidance to the fast changing of modern world? I doubt that. Past brings us something of lasting value. Take art for an example. Art can instruct us. When we watch a moral novel, we see ourselves in the characters, we identify our own destines in the plot and we find the representative of problems in all human relationship. But the cold-blooded technology couldn't bring us such spiritual enjoyment. Nowadays more people agree to the opinion that technology tends to isolate each other. You can do the entire thing that need(is needed) to contact with people by the internet. Take the philosophy for another example, philosophy, the thought of all the historic philosophers, teaches us the general rules in the world of eternal value. In conclusion, despite that the modern world changes fast, the past provides a myriad of guidelines to modern world, which always thoughtful. However, as the old saying goes, study is the thing one need to do throughout one's life. We need learn new knowledge to adapt to modern world（这个however后面说的是一个人要不停的学习，和主题

It seems so reasonable that under such a complex and new time which totally different from the past studying history turns out to be useless. To me, however, after carefully examining the statement which seems to be somewhat appealing at the first glance, I would like to say that I have enough reasons to present an opposite claim against the author.

Indeed the modern country is brand-new and complicated, there is one thing we still can't forget that is without the research and learning of the past, we would never have such a great society. The comfortable rooms in big house, the advanced medical treatment, the convenient transport, all these high-techs are all built up upon the superposition of the histories. In living realm, we try to build a comfortable, livable home environment, but how we reach this goal is all based on the history up step by step improvement. Human experienced thatched cottage, frame house and then move into skyscraper finally in a long run. In the contemporary art space design realm, a variety of imaginative, beautiful and practical industrial design, furniture design and the like, living in the city to attract people's attention. But we could never forget that all these fantast designs are born of a famous school, Bauhaus which has already shot down. Thus the future will be built up upon our current days which would be called “history” in the future.

There also exist one significant reason for us to look back for an understanding of the past that is to prevent we human beings do wrong things again, even to prevent painful history of tragedy happened again. Sometime in a big case, history could help us make the right decision or guide our direction from which we can have a better consequence. For instance, we understand the control of military strategy and even business applications by reading the Three Kingdoms; we study the nuclear accidents at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl to avoid nuclear accident happen again in the future; we get a better guidance in helping our children grow up accurately through research B.S Bloom's pedagogics.

And what is the most important thing is, the speaker doesn't have a real sense of understanding of what history is. Why are so many scholars, no matter in which realm, obsessed with history? Because what it gives us is not only telling us what happened in what time and what place but to help us understand and appreciate the morals, values, and ideals of past cultures. What is the most charming thing is that studying history opens a door for us to communicate the past, to make a soul of the communication with the historical personage, to laugh what they laughed for, to cry what they cried for. Through this way we finally have a chance to get into the deep of one's inside, to understand the pain or blessedness in some age. To do this study is not just to read some words or watch some pictures in books, the truth of this job is when you are studying history, you taste the same feeling as the people in some period and as an amazing result, you become one of them. To develop our society, fulfill people's need, invent new technology, these are just parts of our lives. We are not the kind of animals who just take the what would bring the benefits of material things while our emotion need plenty of spiritual power which comes from learning history greatly. That is the truly value for us to connect with the history.

So, the author’s assertion just neglects multitudes of need in many parts of human-being’s lives. I’ll trust my strong intuition that history is as significative as it exists. And looking back for an understanding of it is never out of date no matter how complex and new our current lives are.

when you are studying history, you taste the same feeling as the people in some period and as an amazing result, you become one of them. Animals only focus on material things but human kind need spiritual power to sustain their society, and history studies would provide us plenty of it.



The contribution of research on history to the development of human society may sometimes seem too subtle to comprehend. To me, however, after carefully examining the statement which seems to be somewhat appealing at the first glance, I would like to say that I have enough reasons to present an opposite claim against the author.

Indeed the modern country is brand-new and complicated, there is one thing we still can't forget that is without the research and learning of the past, we would never have such a great society. The comfortable rooms in big house, the advanced medical treatment, the convenient transport, and all these high-techs are all built up upon the superposition of the histories. In living realm, we try to build a comfortable, livable home environment, but how we reach this goal is all based on the history up step by step improvement. This assertion that looking back for an understanding of the past provides us little guidance for living in the present just because of the tremendous changes that have taken place in the passage of time, I could not agree with. Even though much has changed, we could still find guidance of life in the history, because they are the sources of our inspirations.

First of all, we have already entered the information age, the theme of which is change. The world has been connected by the Internet which enable information and knowledge to travel around the world at an unprescendent speed, thus new ideas can be shared among all the citizens. When people have new ideas, changes follow immediately. However, we must also keep it in mind that something stays the same or evolve slightly. Such as many ideas in philosophy, religion and also some genuine scientific discoveries. They are the backbones of the whole humanity and they serve to be bridges which connect our ancestors and us. History, which records the developments of those bridges, would be our guidebook into the future.
