在离楼主一小时火车距离的小镇读书。和楼主请教一下，Swiss National Science Foundation给的doctoral student mobility要求必须是瑞士国籍，外籍的博士生如何找funding去别的学校交流呢？

P.S. Basel to Zurich is actually also around 1 hour......but indeed seems Basel hardly  ...

Considering that SG is the biggest "city" in Ostschweiz I shouldn't have called it a small town either.

Depends on where you are. For places such as Zürich, Bern and Basel you might want to speak a little bit of either Hochdeutsch or Schwyzerdütsch. For Lausanne and Geneva then French. German-speaking area is much larger than the French-speaking area so most likely one uses German :)
