167."It is impossible for an effective political leader to tell the truth all the time. Complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician."

With the rapid development of the technology of media and propaganda, the politicians seem to be antitheses of the mass. Various political scandals come out in newspaper, television, internet website, etc., which have a serious influence on the morality tendency of the society. However, just as wrote by Jac-Jeanques Rousseau, “Those who desire to treat politics and morality separately would never understand anything of either.” An effective political leader not only can but must be reconciled with the imperative of honesty.
First of all, admitted by all, our ordinary standards of decency and righteousness can not always applied to political area. The entire politicians know that ambiguity and compromise tend to prevail over universal truths, while the one who insists on the completely honest would be considered as the naive, utopian stance. Then the position of power would hardly occur to them and further it would be unlike to achieve her or his wishes for honesty.

Additionally, the argument described above does not mean that hypocrisy and cynicism are not all the matter of politics. It is important and necessary to distinguish between political honesty and dishonesty, despicable trick and mere rhetoric. Immanuel Kant described two types of politician, political moralist and moral politician. Political moralists consider political expediency as her or his first and basic principle, and pursue soaring ambition regardless of the cost to others. The dictator such as Hitler or Stalin and wheeler-dealer such as the Japanese leader Junichiro Koizumi are two typical representations. Hitler, a victor to some degree, nevertheless was blinded by the conviction that he was definitely right, which suggests his finally failure and abject fate.

To the contrary, moral politician firstly is moralistic and then secondly use the politics as a tool for the common good. An honest politician would pursue pragmatism built on principles, on the courage to say unpleasant things, but always with a constructive attitude. Meeting with some crucial problem related to the core interest of the common people, honest politician would not hesitate to present their ideas and fight for the mass. For example, when Winston Churchill was among the leadership of Tory Party in British, he didn't agree with a bill concerning British's rules in India and then he made an unbelieving decision, a self-imposed exile from the corridors of power that he announced his disagreement and resigned his position. Surely he was soon frozen out of power until Hitler threatened British's security. Fortunately and obviously, this honest, brave and wise man were eventually made
supreme in Britain. This example indicates that only a both moral and competent man could be qualified to leader and accepted by the public.

To sum up, a politician who succumb to naive moralizing would not go further and shoulder the burden of responsibility, while the statesmen sacrifice moral imperative would forfeit what he has own and finally be rejected by the common. If and only if the one masters the political skill and then is honest to his people, he could be effective and maximize the dual profit.

167."It is impossible for an effective political leader to tell the truth all the time. Complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician."
TS:An effective political leader not only can but must be reconciled with the imperative of honesty.

With the rapid development of the technology of media and propaganda, the politicians seem to be antitheses of the mass. Various political scandals come out in newspaper, television, internet website, etc., which have a serious influence on the moralitymoral tendency of the society. However, just as wrote by Jac-Jeanques Rousseau, “Those who desire to treat politics and morality separately would never understand anything of either.” An effective political leader not only can but must be reconciled with the imperative of honesty.
First of all, admitted by all, our ordinary standards of decency and righteousness can not always applied不错的用词 to political area. 换换吧 politicians know that ambiguity and compromise tend to prevail over universal truths, while the one who insists on the completely honest would be considered as the naive, utopian stance.

To the contraryon, moral politician firstly is moralistic and then secondly use the politics as a tool for the common good??.

To sum up, a politician who succumb to naive moralizing would not go further and shoulder the burden of responsibility, while the statesmen sacrificing moral imperative would forfeit what he has owned and finally be rejected by the common. If and only if the one masters the political skill and then is honest to his people, he could be effective and maximize the dual profit.

167."It is impossible for an effective political leader to tell the truth all the time. Complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician."

With the rapid development of the technology of media and propaganda, the politicians seem to be antitheses of the mass. Various political scandals come out in newspaper, television, internet website, etc., which have a serious influence on the morality tendency of the society. However,为什么转折? just as wrote by Jac-Jeanques Rousseau, “Those who desire to treat politics and morality separately would never understand anything of either.” An effective political leader not only can but must be reconciled with the imperative of honesty.

It is important and necessary to distinguish between political honesty and dishonesty,不错的立论点 despicable trick and mere rhetoric.

To the contrary,有contrary的意思吗 我看不出来~ moral politician firstly is moralistic and then secondly use the politics as a tool for the common good. Fortunately and obviously, this honest, brave and wise man were eventually made supreme in Britain.
