The speaker claims that any means is justifiable if the goal is worthy. However, in my view, whether the means is justifiable should be analyzed by its benefits against its detriment case by case. Otherwise, if the means is not proper, we will not be able to reach the goal.

Under some circumstances, we have to use violent ways like war to solve the problems, for other possible solutions of the problems have been excluded. Many countries in history is faced by the condition that they have to fight for their survival. One example that can aptly illustrate this point is the condition of the Britain in the Second World War. Although British and French negotiated with Hitler some times, the only thing that the crazy man wanted was to conquer the world through war. Then the Britain had to fight with him and had no other choice if they wanted to survive in freedom.

Under some other circumstances, the problems are urgent and should be deal with immediately so there is no enough time to prepare a perfect solution. Then it is justifiable to scarify some interests for the larger benefits. For example, a ship with a lot of goods on it, which meet a storm and can not continue to bring so many goods, would throw some things into the sea in order to protect the safe of the crews and other goods， Because the ship would have sink into the sea if it waits for the saving. Another example involves the injured soldier in battle field, there is no facility to transplant the legs and in order to save his life, and the doctor has to cut them down. Although it is a pity, it is better than lose of life.

But these do not mean that we can use any means to solve the problems. We should try hard to find some better way to the problems for bad ways always result in the worse problems. One example involves the establishment of the Israel. Although western countries want to find a place for Jews, which is a very glorious goal, they do not consider the interests of Arabians. Then four wars have broken in the middle between the Jews and the Arabians. But if we find a proper way, even the most complex problem will be solved，for example, the nuclear problems of the northern Korea. Although it is not solved completely, under the six parties’ negotiation, this problem does not go worse and the hope of the solution appeared.

In conclusion, although in many cases we have to deal with problems with some threshold solutions, whether the means is justifiable should be analysis case by case, for the low solution some time will bring the problem further and amounts to net loss.
