Dear ***,
Persons who wish to visit their family members who are in Canada on a
Study/Work Permit should submit an application for a Temporary Resident
Visa.
All applicants must meet all the requirements for temporary residents in
Canada. They must satisfy an officer that they are genuine temporary
residents who will be in Canada for a temporary stay.
The Student/Worker must provide proof that they will be able to support
their family members in the letter of invitation and supporting
documents as listed in the application kit. Since funding provided by
Canadian institutions or governmental organizations is normally
sufficient for one person only, proof of additional funding and/or
savings may be required. Please provide a copy of your marriage
certificate and/or birth certificate of child. The intended length of
the visit by the family members should be clearly indicated in the
letter of invitation, including if they intend to remain with the
Student/Worker for the length of the remaining stay in Canada.
Due to the volume of requests, our office is unable to provide
individual assistance in completing application forms. Applicants should
respond to all questions to the best of their ability and provide a
separate explanation where appropriate. Our application kits list which
documents are required. The applicant should complete all parts of the
application and provide all requested documents. Applications which are
not fully completed or do not enclose required documents will normally
be refused.
After an application has been submit the applicant (s) will be notified
by our office if a medical exam is required. Please note that the
Immigration Act requires that a visa officer be satisfied that anyone
issued a visa will not be a danger to public health or cause excessive
demand on health and social services.
An officer will take into account a number of factors when deciding
whether to require a medical examination, such as the probable length of
stay in Canada, the age and medical background of the individual, who
the applicant will be visiting (for example, medical institutions,
schools, close contact with young children, pregnant women, etc), , or
for other reasons where the protection of public health is paramount.
Please be advised that the medical requirement cannot be waived.
Yours sincerely,

Subject: From a worried husband and intending father in Canada
Hi, Dear Sir/Madam,
I'm a postdoctoral researcher in Canada. I arrived to Canada in May,
2006 and will work here for one year. Now my wife, a teacher in ***
University of China, wants to take a short visit with me. My problem is
can she apply for Temporary Resident Visitor VISA with pregnancy?
Actually I didn't know she had been pregnant until one month after I got
to Canada. And if she can apply a VISA, my second question is that does
she need to take the physical examination? You know, the X-ray is
harmful to baby's health.
I hope my questions will not disturb your work. I really appreciate
for your response. Thank you very much.
Waiting for your reply.
Have a good weekend and Happy Thanksgiving Day!
A worried husband and intending father |
