"Fifteen years ago, Omega University implemented a new procedure that encouraged students to evaluate the teaching effectiveness of all their professors. Since that time, Omega professors have begun to assign higher grades in their classes, and overall student grade averages at Omega have risen by thirty percent. Potential employers apparently believe the grades at Omega are inflated; this would explain why Omega graduates have not been as successful at getting jobs as have graduates from nearby Alpha University. To enable its graduates to secure better jobs, Omega University should now terminate student evaluation of professors."

To a conclusion, the author suggests that Omega University should now terminate sutdent evaluaion of professors.

However, the author is failing to consider other possible alternatives to the increasing grade averages after that new procedure has been implemented. Such alternatives may include the fact that higher grade averages is mainly because of those students’ hard-working, or a new approach that would spur student’s interest in the study have been invented by Omega University professors, pursuant to this new advancement, the enormous number of student exhibit much interest in their courses. It is possible that the examination which took in Omega is drastically easier than that in Alpha.

Fifteen years ago is not particularly a necessary time frame for the author to determine that that new procedure has influenced the increasing of student grade averages. It is possible that there is absolutely no effect on the academic performance of that new procedure during fifteen years, or even made student grade averages a lower level. On the other hand, fifteen years have quite been a long time, considering the dramatically and drastically development of society and technology, should that new procedure still works today?.

The author has also failed to mention the different type of those two universities. Perhaps Omega is a University of Liberate Arts, to the contrary, Alpha is a University of technology or economy, as a result, the former graduates at getting jobs are surely on a lower level. Alternatively, it is possible that the graduates from Omega are more likely to do a further research on their major courses instead of those in Alpha whose only want to get jobs. Moreover, if Omega graduates have been same grade averages for several years that much lower than Alpha, the term “thirty percent” is too vague to e statistically meaningful.

To reiterate, before any final decisions are made about the terminate the student evalutaion of professors, the author and these potential employers should evaluate all possible alternatives and causes for the increasing of Omega grade averages over the fifteen years as in comparison to Alpha.
