Does the way people look, dress, and act reveal their attitudes and interests? Do the appearance and behavior of society's people reflect the its ideas and values? The author claims so. In my point of view, I agree that to some extent the assertion is sensible, however, in some other cases, it might not.

赞成前半句，即人们的外貌、衣着和行为反映了他们的态度和兴趣
从外貌、衣着和行为三方面论述
To begin with, people's attitudes and interests could be revealed by their looking, dressing and action. For one thing, for example, smiles on the faces would be able to reflect people's positive attitudes toward life while painful expressions are the symbol of complaining about most things and pessimism toward life. In another word, in terms of facial expressions, we could tell much about people's attitudes toward their current enviroment. For another thing, dressing is another essential factor to indicate people's interests to some extent. Those interested in sports and in physical excercise would always wear sportswear due to the fact that they are favorable of sporting clothing. Finally, choosing what to do is also an significant fator showing people's inclination. Abraham Lincoln's action in the Civil War and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s activities in the movement for the rights of the black is an explanation for their desire of equality among all kinds of people, freedom in daily life and diminishing the racial discrimination. It is their attitudes in these kinds of things that compel them to do so. Therefore, making an investigation of people's daily looking, dress and action is an effective way to know their interests and attitudes.

In addition, a scrutiny of the appearance and behavior of society's people could informs us information about the contemporary society's ideas and values. Americans, for instance, in favor of colorful and variegated clothing are willing to live in a society replete with individualism and freedom. Chinese, in contrast, always prefering to choose the clothing of traditional style and at a relatively low price, gives us the emblem of moderation and pragmaticism in its society's value. Different values in society actually lies in the different appearances.
Moreover, take women in Arab into consideration, in most situations women in this country are required to wear veil over their faces and to keep silent when significant decisions are made. In their society's value system, the fact that women do not play an essetial role could be recognized from the costume and behavior of the women. In short, the appearance and behavior are mirrors reflecting the ideas and values a certain society possesses.

However, sometimes appearances and actions do not completely show the unique ideas and values of the society. Firstly, under some circumstances people tend to disguise their true action such as the spy who always have to conceal their purpose when doing a task. From their actions nothing would be acquired because of their skillful disguise, let alone their interests or attitudes. Secondly, globalization in the world would cause such a trend that many youngsters are fans of a well-known singer, consequently they would do something quite same in the pursuit of the star. As a result, we could be convinced that different societies share the same value according to the actions mentioned above. Therefore, for a precise understanding of a society’s values and ideas, we could delve into other realms such as education system and typical legislations, because these fields also play a vital role in establishing the ideas and values of the society.

To sum up, the appearances and actions do reveal the attitudes and interests of people but do not completely give information about a society’s values and ideas despite of the fact that in some cases they do, in oder to have a good master of society’s values and ideas we could turn to other fields for further study.
