Issue51:
Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
Education is a topic that will never be out of date because whatever our society is we need education with the development of our civilization. According to the speaker's assertion, education should be specialized for each student to make it truly effective. If all our students are born to have the fundamental skills and knowledge, and our society have so much money and people to fulfill this kind of specifically design for education, I couldn't agree more with what speaker wants to express. However, unfortunately, our students are not that kind of super-students, and our society cannot put all its focus on the education. So I will rather maintain that when we try our best to make education more specific for each student, it will be more effective.
First there is a question that if a person has no skill to live, then what other great skills like singing and dancing means to him/her. That's the point where I disagree with the claim. Each student does have their own needs and interests, but somehow they still have to learn some basic skill and knowledge that are necessary to be studied. They have to learn because they still live in this world and society. They still have to communicate with other people in this society and they have to face many problems like how to arrange their life. I always read and hear some story about some teenagers who are very outstanding in certain academic area they are interested in. They get a lot of honor which usually are got by some very old professors. That really amazes me. But when we look inside the other side of their life, it amazes me too that they totally depend on their parents in life. They have almost no ability in everything but their academic area. Their parents help them take on clothes every morning, help them wash the clothes and buy the stuff they need to live. What surprise me most is that they almost never talk to anyone. So let's imagine what will be there for them if one day their parents pass away, death or something? I cannot figure it out.
Back into our real world, I have to say that we cannot make that claim come true. In our society we need to make everything in balance in a great way. We cannot just focus on the education and be regardless of whatever else. Then we have not enough resources to make our education exactly specially designed for each student. If we do that, we have to need at least one teacher for every student and take a lot of money and resources into the test of each student’s characteristics, his/her interests, his/her potential ability which make our education more complicated and unable to conduct. That is not a way to make education better but to make it horrible for our society to face.
Although that assertion is impossible to put into practice and is not right in some way, some of the idea inside the claim is still needed in our education. Our education does not need to be uniform but diversity. Students have their own characteristic, favorite part and their interests. On the basis of fundamental education, we can make our education special for different kinds of student in a proper way which is not the way to increase more burdens for the society.
To sum up, the education we need is not the total different from one student to another. We need the variety education upon the same basis of it which assures that students get fundamental skills and knowledge they need. That will make education effective and make sense. Finally I disagree with what speakers maintain but partially agree with some idea in this claim.
