The reading passage  raises the issue that the number of people  who read literature is on the decrease that will actually result in several problems for our whole nation.However, such statement is strongly questioned by the lecture with drastically different reasons and argues that though fewer people would like to read literature today but the impact is not as serious as the reading passage claims.

First of all ,the professor begins by pointing out that the decrease in literature reading will not cause the ability of  think decline.He describes that lots of good books like fictions  ,storical books and non-ficitons in our society can lead to people think creatively and spur our insight and imagination which  disagrees with the statement ,as demonstrated in the reading passage .

Then ,the professor goes on to maintian that the fewer people in the library does not mean people are reluctant to read literature .And that the culture in modern times is more diversified for people to have lots of choices to the  cultural literature like by electrical book, radio ,and TV as well.therefore, the lecture contradictswith the passage .

Finally ,the reading passage insists that the less popularity in literature reading will conduct English literature to be marginal.But it also cast doubts on the contents of the listening material.for the reason that writers prefer to write some understandable essays right now that will undoubtely attract fewer readers.
