The reading passage raises the issue that importing species have a significant negative influence on the local environment .However,the lecture is strongly questioned such statement and provides drastically different evidences and argues that the benefits of those species that imported from one place to the other outweigh the risks.

The professor begins by pointing that though the imported species do have stronger competitiveness compared to the local ones.But reasons of the decreasing number of the frogs ,salamanders,mussels in North America are due to the pollution and other diseases ,rather the rivals’ influence,which is contradict with the point ,as demonstrated in the reading passage.

Then the professor goes on to maintain that imported species do not always have bad impact on the ecological balance of a certain region. of course the cane toads is a exceptional . otherwise, to some extent those species can benefit the local ecosystem and manage the environment if controlled appropriately is quite against with the passage viewpoint.
