惨不忍睹。。。自己都不看第二遍了。。
ISSUE13
Many of the world's lesser-known languages are being lost as fewer and fewerpeople speak them. The governments of countries in which these languages arespoken should act to prevent such languages from becoming extinct.
Language is one part of culture, which in turn polishes culture into various kinds. In world exist thousands of languages; however they are keeping disappearing in certain paces every year. As a result, suggestion of preventing their extinction shows up and become a current social issue. However, to me, it depends on how important the language is.
Languages are brewed by different culture; however, the reasons of their extinction normally share some similarities, which can be divided into two parts, naturally one and forced one. The former is resulted from a growing emigrant. The latter one is mainly caused by invasion. When being conquered, normally, the country is forcedby the winner to get rid of their language. And such phenomenon happens innowadays but in different way, which is determined by globalization. When involves international trends, languages of counter business partner is required as a must. And gradually, this language becomes popular and undermines their own.
Human has a tendency to prevent what is being losing. However, without knowing why, aim lessbehavior is wasting money and exhausting the labor. Language evolves. Its written or spoken way is determined by academic or daily use. When people found a better expression, they use it. And when it survives along with time, it is confirmed to be an appropriate language to them. For example, when Chinese characters were brought into Japan in 5th century, they would never expect they will change into Hiragana and Katakana someday. But it happens, and determines a different culture. What’s more, the main function of language is communication. What if a language only has 3 users? Their life zone must be limited and information of their own cannot be got from the outsiders. Meanwhile, when a language left nothing but its culture value, only anthropology will pay attention to it. And a forced method won’t change its fate easily.
In addition, protectinga culture does not equal preventing the loss of language. When a culture is determined, language is only an expression of it. By learning its literature works, digging out its structure or its social behavior, the full image of this country can be given, then, why protecting the language?
In summary, appropriate analysis of the importance of one language is the preliminary of its preventing action. If one language is losing its communication function, merely preventing if for its culture is unwise and unnecessary. After all, it's not the strongest to survive, but the right one. |
