还有10多天就考了，花了1个小时才能写到这个程度。真希望突然间自己的右脑开窍，把什么英文作品呀像照相一般录入，然后考试的时候刷刷刷的出来（当然是消化后再出来，不然就惨了），然后考完后我再还回去。哎~想想而已。


In this era of explosive development of science and technology leading to rapid social and economic change, competing between individuals as well as nations is becoming more and more severe. Thus, people in increasing number has lay a great deal of emphasis on the quality of education, especially that at the college and university level, which is the last stage before youngsters step into the society. When it comes to the issue of whether all faculty should spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach, many people hold positive opinion. Admittedly, a relevant professional experience would benefit both the faculties and the students. To expand this recommendation to much as to all faculty members regardless of what particular academic field he or she actually is unwarranted.

There is no denying that for a professor of practical academic domain, such as engineering, applied science, economy and so forth, to work in a relevant profession outside the academic world produces benefits to both themselves and the students. To begin with, a practical work experience relevant to the professor's academic domain would bring great interests to his research by providing him the information about how his research is important in real use. In addition, after all many of our technology developed in the laboratory should be applied to the construction of our society, otherwise they are rendered of no use, thus a good opportunity for the professor taking a position working outside to promote the technology. Finally, a professor with the latest information of the course he teach would provide the students a very mimic impression of the specific course and meet any of their curiosity of the course. Thus, faculty of practical domain should be required to work outside due to its multiple benefits.

Nevertheless, the same result cannot be simply reached from asking a professor of pure academic domain to gain a work experience. First and foremost, it is hard for a professor in such domain as theoretical physics or history to find a proper working position relevant to their academic research, which of course is of indispensable significance to our society. Secondly, the laboratory or the study room themselves in such filed are already the most forward frontier of that particular knowledge or technology that no other place can even mach. Thus, to work outside the academic domain is totally unnecessary and almost always a waste of time drawing the professor's mind distracted. Should we really want to make such a counterproductive proposal?

Finally, it is unwise to make a stiff decision without taking the particulars into account. Took engineering for example, a professor of medical apparatus may be well prepared to work sometime in a medical machine company to further promote his new technology, while a professor of nuclear energy cannot work outside due to certain restraints. Another example is in arts, an artist may well open a gallery to exhibit or sell his works, but whether it will give him a rich experience of the sense of esthete value of the society or his own specific view of arts will be made worldly is hard to say. The same analysis can also be applied to the effect on the course study of the students.

To sum up, while I agree with the opinion certain college and university faculty should take a experience working outside the academic world, I contend that it should be enacted on a concrete issue concrete analysis basis. To overstate of understate is to do harm to the quality of instruction. It is always our task to strike a proper balance between yes or not.
