The reading passage claims that working in team is the best way of approaching a project. In the lecture, the speaker opposes this opinion, based on the following aspects.

First of all, the speaker disagrees with the statement that people work more quickly in a group. He mentions the phenominon of what has been called "free rider". Free riders are people who contribute a lot less than other members of the group, but recieve same credit and recognize as everyone else after the project is finished. Consequentely, those who provided good ideas and efficient work will feel frustrated upon this unfire result, and show opposit attitudes of what the reading passage suggested.

The speaker then illustrates that people actually work slowly as a group, not as the reading passage claimed, quickly. He supported his point by analyzing people's interaction during they are carry out a project. There are always one or two influencial people in a group, when they come up with ideas, most of people in the group would probably agree, and ignor the minority who warn them possible risk of such idea. In this case, if the result of the project does not turn out to be good, the blame will go to everyone in the group, which also create negativeness and frustration.
