The reading made the point that dinosaurs were endotherms due to three reasons. In the lecture, The professor, however, held a different view.
    Firstly, the reading states that fossils found in polar region meant that dinosaurs were endotherms so that they can live in cold area. On the contrary, the professor argues that polar region was much warmer at that time, so cold blood animals can live in polar area too. And when climate became cold, dinosaurs can either go to warmer place or hibernate like other reptiles.
    In addition, the professor refutes the viewpoint showed in the passage that the position of the leg means dinosaurs were endotherms, by pointing out that the position of the legs can be attribute to the purpose of withstanding more weigh. Even though dinosaurs’ legs were under their body, they should not necessarily be endotherms.
    Finally, according to the professor, the found of growth rings challenges the reading statement that the appearance of Haversian canals in bones demonstrate that dinosaurs were endotherms. The presence of growth rings shows that dinosaurs stop growing in cooler periods, and this results in periodical growing, which is definitely not a characteristic belongs to endotherms.
    In conclusion, the professor provides three evidences to cast doubt on the reading passage.
