Issue 1: we can usually learn much from people whose view we share than from people whose views contradict our own; disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning.

We usually get knowledge from people who agree or disagree with us. But whether there are evidences to illustrate that we learn more from the former than from the latter just as the speaker claims? I have a different view.

I admit the fact sometimes people harvested nothing from an argument or a controversy except for a heap of contumelious words and meaningless complaints. On some debates today, the combatants put all irons in the fire to manifest their own view of point; furthermore, they neglect their opponents’ standpoint. The spectators pay no attention to what players have said but are mostly allured by meaningless rhetorical skills and shouting bouts.

And other bad effect which disagreement bring is that fierce criticism from others may hurt the people’s self-confidence on learning. If a scientist was faced with an inveighing against his discovery on a new theory, what would be going on for the scientist? It is possible for him that he may misdoubt the veracity of his new theory; moreover he may lose his confidence and miss a momentous achievement in his life – the Nobel Prize.

However, we cannot ignore the truth either that people may struggle into the morass of self-complacence when there are a lot of persons agreeing with him. Steve Jobs’ abdication from Apple is a classic case of crabs. (Jobs turned to be a high-headed person after his company’s huge success and most of his employees agreed with his new program, Lisa. Actually Lisa was proved to be a disaster and induced jobs’ resignation.)

We can learn almost nothing from whether people who agree with us or people who disagree with us unless we understand a true meaning of learning. The term, learning, will not sit still for easy definition. As I understand it, it entails a combination of both the view was learned from people who agree with us and the view was learned from people who disagree with us. After arduous efforts, other person’s agreement is a best reward for our hard work and helps confidence. That is the reason why mothers will always praise their children for good behaviors. And we can find more arguments and new perspectives from people who agree with you. Because there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes. They share the same view with us doesn’t mean that they conceive same reasons or same angles with us. Similarly people who disagree with us can also offer assist to us. Debate is a representative measure to improve our brightness. For supporting examples we need to talk about Aristotle who is famous for his declamations. At that time, the era of Ancient Greece, famous speakers like Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates argued in debate for pursuit of verities. Nowadays people throw away the true value of debate and turn to pursue a win against their opponents. It is wrong and results in the barrier of learning from others who disagree with them.

As a conclusion, overcoming the prejudice of learning from whether people agree or disagree with us can really give us knowledge and wisdom. The key point is not the advantage or the disadvantage of both sides, but the attitude that we want to learn something from other people when we are faced with different people who agree or disagree with us.

argument1 Subjects:
1: Residents of the area where the store are most profitable may be high income groups.
2: The report that sales of running shoes and exercise clothing are at-time highs doesn’t show whether the health-related product selling market are close to saturation.
3: No one can promise that whether the health-related products are popular in the future considering about the same reason why five years ago the health club were nearly closed.
4: The fact that local schoolchildren are required to participate in a fitness for life’s program has no straight effect on the store which are mentioned in the paragraph due to the assumption that the school may have their own supply merchants.

嗯 第一篇issue写的还是慌慌的  没打提纲的确不太好  写的有点混乱
