TOPIC: ISSUE153 - "Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively."
对已有的知识批判思考能够提高教学的质量,但是借鉴前人的经验探索新的问题同样重要,因此学生在对待知识的时候需要在尊重和质疑之间保持平衡;
1-1、
质疑可以帮助学生发现真相。

1-2、
质疑的学习方法可以激发学生的学习兴趣,帮助他们更好的掌握知识;

What attitude should students keep when they learn new things? The issue asserts that they should be skeptical about what they are taught instead of accepting it passively. As disscused below, certain skepticism will be beneficial to the efficiency of learning. However, for that it is also important to focus one’s attention on gain knowledge and try to explore new questions, students should make a compromise between the doubt and respect towards the knowledge which has been tought,.

Doubting towards what have been tought can make students know the truth. Textbook are not always true, due to some reasons. For instance, a history textbook will sometimes hide the truth which will threat to government’s authority. It is same that teachers, due to their own different religions and experience will sometimes turn a biased perspective to a sort of thing, If students accept them without any doubt, it will be harmful. In short, doubting can help students find the truth hidden from different views.

Critical thinking will also be beneficial in that it will ignite the interests among students and help them understand the knowledge firmly. For example, if a student learns Darwin's evolution theory with doubts, he would think more, and go to find evidence to support his own view. Indeed, with doubting, the process of learning have developed to an affair of explorating the nature, a procedure include finding question, collecting statistics, and present the finding. Weather they will do research in acdemic world or start up a career in professions, this ability will be useful.

On the other hand, the abuse of questioning on learning is acturally harmful, and it might diminish the prograss of learning new things and exploring new areas. Firstly, it is not proper for the students who have not developed a sense of independent thinking to bring a certain skepticim to whatever they study. Without the ability to think rationally and to distinguish the right from the wrong, they cannot even come up with a practical conclusion. And for example, if a child doubts the fuction of language, and don’t want to learn it, then shall we leave him alone to think about the solution? So it is impotant for teachers to lead them to learn and they should accept the knowledge compulsively.

Secondly, even for those who have the capability to think independently, it is also a waste of time to doubt everything they have learned. If we spend to much time on thinking the problems that have already been saved, how can we the new problems we face. As Newton puts it, "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shlouders of Giants", this illustrate the point that by learning from the brilliant minds, one can gain a higher perspective in viewing the world around us, and concentrate on the problems that might be more meaningful to the reality. Indeed, without assimilation of the works created by predecessors, one can hardly walk a long way in the forests of knowledge only by solving problems himself. It is necessary for us to think critically, however it is more important to differentiate the vital problems and the inconsequential ones.

Learning is important to everyone of us, and education is just a dialog between the old and youth, during the dialog the shining wisdom have be found and the antique theroy have been abandoned, only through this process can knowledge be renewed and human as a whole maintain vigour, that is also why we should keep a balance between adoring the past wisdom and doubting them for a better future.

Secondly, even for those who have the capability to think independently, it is also a waste of time to doubt everything they have learned. If we spend to much time on thinking the problems that have already been saved, how can we the new problems we face(此句不通). As Newton puts it, "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shlouders of Giants", this illustrate the point that by learning from the brilliant minds, one can gain a higher perspective in viewing the world around us, and concentrate on the problems that might be more meaningful to the reality.
