The writer thinks that some paintings is fake to Rembrandt ,such as the portrait of Elderly Woman. The argument bases on some evidences.

Firstly, the writer states, according to Rembrandt’s painting style, the women’s clothe does not conform to Rembrandt’s attention of detail. But the speaker insists that her fur color was not a part of formal painting, the color was added one hundred years after the painting was made.

Secondly, the writer think that Rembrandt’s paintings have excellent light and shadow. However, the speaker claims that the origin color was removed, as a result , the dark fur collar below the face absorb light instead of reflection.

Finally, the writer continues to says that there are some pieces of wood making up of a painting panel, it is known that no Rembrandt’s painting was used to different woods in a work. But the speaker tells us that it would be valuable if the painting used a broaden panel. Also, it was discovered that the pieces of wood were come from some tree.

The lecture completely refutes the passage. It is said in the lecture that the painting is indeed worked by Rembrandt, which challenging the passage indicates.
First of all, the lecture states that the fur color is not part of the original color of the painting. Some research shows that it was painted over the top of the painting after about 100 years the painting was made. This is different from the passage argue that something is inconsistent.
Furthermore, the speaker indicates that the woman’s face will appear partial in shadow. Once the added color is removed, the light color of clothes appears and it will reflect light.  However, the passage just think the elements do not fit together.
Finally, research shows that pieces of wood glue together is to make the painting more valuable and grand. The pieces of wood are from the same tree.
To sum up, the viewpoints asserted in the lecture are totally different from the passage indicates.
