1-1、在个人层面上----务实的人善于观察现实，并且通过实际的行为来改善现实。而成功需要的就是锲而不舍的努力，因此务实的人更容易适应现实，并且最后得到成功。
1-2、在国家层面上-----政策制定者的务实能够使国家免于意识形态的干扰，从而避免灾难，邓小平务实的改革开放。
2-1、然而务实也未必一定能够成功，许多人太过于对现实逆来顺受，最后成了生活的失败者。他们只是试着做一些他们认为是可能的事，那么他们永远不敢挑战既成的一些困难。
2-2、而且要成功未必一定要务实，历史上有很多有理想主义色彩的成功人士。甘地、史怀泽，他们的功绩被我们永远记住了。
理想主义和现实主义看似矛盾，实则相符相成，我们需要的是务实的理想主义者，只有这样才能成功。

The speaker asserts that in any realm of life, pragmatic behaviors overweigh idealistic views, because the former guarantees survival while the latter tend to be superceded by simpler options. I do not agree with the statement. In my pespective, the reality is so complex and frightening that we should infuse the best of both aspects.

Admittedly, pragmatic behaviour is often necessary to ensure one’s survival and success in the society. People with practical view observe the world carefully, and can adjust their behaviors according to external environment. Common sense tells us that in order to succeed, there are many dificulties should be overcome. So it is only through those careful action can one survive in the tough situation and finally win the game. Actually, without practical actions, nothing can be done.

It is also necessary to turn a view of practical point in the country level. Unrealistic ideology might lead the nation into a disordered situation. While in this time, only the pragmatic policies can solve the problem and put the country back on track. To support it, one needs look no further than China. In 1987, the Chinese govenment stopped the crazy Utopia experiment of communism and has put out the well-known reform and open-up policy which was accord with the reality of the society. This is the turning point for China, and after 30 years, now china has became the third biggest economic entity in the world.

However, turning a view of practical cannot guarantee the success of him. We will see many people who don’t have the courage to pursue their own dream, and only do what they can do. In that way, they are trapped in their confort zone, and cannot move for a while. Actually, the heavy burden of reality has made them lose their desire for future; they do not have dreams anymore and have no passion to change the environment around.

What’s more, in fact, there are many so-called idealists, who did what others think cannot be done, at last won the game of life and were renowed by us till now. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who challenged the formidable troops of Great Britain with his love for human, has led the India people to an independent nation; Albert Schweitzer, who gave up his bright future as a musician and went to Africa to help their people for 60 years, has won the respect of whole the world. In short, Ideas give us hope and enthusiasm, stimulating our potentiality and helping us to improve the world’s limitations; those are what practical consideration cannot affort.

It seems that the view of ideal and practial are inconsistent, indeed, either of which is indispensible for us, and they can be combined together. Without the practical action, one will just be bogged down into his own imagination, and cannot do anything; without the lead of one’s dream, he might be a loser under the presure of life and do not have the courage to change the environment. What we truly need is those who not only maintain their dreams but also have the ability to follow their hearts and make the ideas into true reality, only in that way, they will succeed, no matter in which field.
