题目:ISSUE153 - "Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively."


Nowadays creativity and originality are mostly stressed in everywhere, including classroom. However, conformity is also required in teaching process. So, a heated debate, concerning skeptical thinking or accepting, which calls for more comprehensive analysis, is manifested itself in our developing country. From my point of view, we should scrutinize both methods and draw a conclusion carefully.

Firstly, skepticism is basing on the curiosity of human nature, which inspires human beings to investigate the universe and discover the theory underlies it. We are creatures which are full of questions, including not only about everyday phenomenon but also far away object like extraterrestrial life. Students, who are at the age of attracted by outside world, easily get so many questions. They usually are not just satisfied with the knowledge in their textbook, they like discoveries agreeable to their own taste, which means they are not accepting a theory by  literary, but by the connection to their own experience. For instance, the global known American physicist Feynman, when he at school, did not satisfy with quantum theory developed by Schrödinger, also a famous physical scientist, and he regarded it as a theory which extremely abstract to him as well as most people and concealed the true meaning of quantum world. He then came out with a brand new theory-path integral approach-and brought the quantum theory to mass. Thus, skepticism is rooted in everyone's heart, and when we use it properly, it can bring out something surprising.

However, acceptance is crucial in learning process since it is the primary factor which students can learn knowledge. The structure of modern knowledge, which is going through thousands of years, is far beyond the understanding of ordinary students. If one does not know the basic elements, he or she can not offer meaningful questions. Most of the questions like these can be answered by students themselves and the answers are relied on students' acceptance and assimilation of the materials in their textbook. So the accepting is inevitable in students' learning. Skepticism without solid foundation will not only give negative effect on students, which means plenty of confusion and trouble in learning, but also an obstacle to the teaching process.

From the above consideration, an effective learning should be a combination of acceptance and appropriate skepticism. Acceptance gives one a fundamental knowledge and an opportunity to expand one’s horizon. Skeptical thinking, or critical thinking, must be based on the current knowledge and challenge it in an insightful and original manner. Therefore, students can learn knowledge and develop their own way of thinking, which will lead to creativity, at the same time.

In conclusion, skepticism is essential in leaning, and acceptance is valuable correspondingly. Today, during the making of the educational program, we should weigh the importance of both in mostly every segment of the program, and make sure we have already included basic knowledge and encouraged the critical thinking, then we can say we do the best to students.

感觉跑偏了,更像argument,没有发展,不够深入。是否应该可以结合质疑精神铺开来写一点,请广大神人指点!

So, a heated debate, concerning(concerning on) skeptical thinking or accepting, which calls for(a) more comprehensive analysis, is manifested itself(a heated debate is manifested itself?应该把itself去掉) in our developing country.(in our developing country什么意思?在我们发展中国家?这句话读着不顺) From my point of view, we should scrutinize both methods and draw a conclusion carefully.(both连结两个并列成分,and 后面应该是跟methods并列的成分,怎么又来了个动词?个人感觉改成we should scrutinize the method,then draw a conclusion carefully.)

skeptical thinking=creativity?conformity=accepting?我不知道你第一句中引发a heated debate的对应关系是怎么来的。主题强调不明显,末句TS(?)不明白conclusion到底是什么,建议强调skeptical thinking.

Firstly, skepticism is basing(based) on the curiosity of human nature, which inspires human beings to investigate(建议explore) the universe and discover the theory underlies it. We are creatures which are full of questions, including not only about everyday phenomenon but also far away object like extraterrestrial life. Students, who are at the age of (being attracted)attracted by outside world, easily get so many questions. They usually(副词应该放在行为动词前、助动词后,本句中应该放在are后面) are not just satisfied with the knowledge in their textbook, they like discoveries agreeable to their own taste, which means they are not accepting(建议do not accept) a theory by  literary(by literary什么意思?), but by the connection to their own experience. For instance, the global known American physicist Feynman, when he at school, (he)did not satisfy with(with去掉) quantum theory developed by Schrödinger, (who is )also a famous physical scientist, and(and去掉,因为没有跟前面的句子任何一个构成并列成分) he regarded it as a theory which (is)extremely abstract to him as well as most people and concealed the true meaning of quantum world. He then came out with a brand new theory-path integral approach-and brought the quantum theory to mass. Thus(没有因果关系为什么用thus?), skepticism is rooted in everyone's heart, and when we use it properly, it can bring out something surprising.

本段在说我们应该skeptical因为怀疑是人类的本性,所以人们应该有怀疑精神吗?但是题目强调的是student应该质疑what they study,本段那个费曼不满足于薛定谔理论的例子在说他不满足于已有的理论并发展了理论,并没有说明费曼质疑what he studies。个人感觉不太扣题(我自己也有这方面问题~)最重要的是首段总结段只是说我们应该质疑教学方法,根本没提到下文要详述的“质疑本性”这点,没有铺垫,就像突然冒出来的一样。

本段强调认同已有的知识也是很重要的,因为已有的知识已经远远超越了现在学生的水平,并且对学生来说现有知识是提出问题的基础。感觉论据有点不足。
