Once robots came up several decades ago, a debate around who is superior, human mind or machine took place. On the one hand, some people who regard the former prior to the latter may lean on the fact that it is human beings who create machines and equip them with intellectual function. On the other hand, the rest of people forecast that next millennium would be the era for/of robots. Both hold host of evidence to support their points if necessary.请赐教~
Long before intellective machines came out, human beings have become the species which dominated the world. It is well-known that the human race surpass other species mostly by their comprehensive ability of which the complex thinking is ranked first. Bats can feel the ultrasonic wave when we cannot. Birds can fly trippingly in the sky when we cannot. Plants can exert sunlight to carry out photosynthesis when we cannot. But all these phenomenons appealed to us and deep researches were in progress which applied to later surprising invention such as radars and planes. From this angle, we are mighty for our awakeness on our weakness compared with other creasure and excellent utilization of implied principles of science. Through relentless efforts, we make great progress in the field of tined machines. One famous example is the computer. If computers stopped working in our daily life we would encounter unexpected trouble. A undeniable fact illustrates that computers exceed us in dealing with data, storing and so on. A computer was even proved to be able to beat a human at chess. But where do these amazing functions come from? Undoubtedly, the only reason they were created is human beings’ need and they were under rigorous management of humankind. 这段论点似乎有点不清楚?讨论的核心是人类的superiority?那讨论bats, plants, birds,用意何在?
Furthermore ,the criteria to judge the status of one thing remains to be confirmed. In my personal opinion, autonomous thinking ability, learning capacity and innovative spirits are the three criteria for judgement. Without thinking ability, one behaviors is driven totally by instinct. Without learning capacity, one never tries to improve its competence on purpose. Without innovative spirits, one cannot realize continuous breakthroughs, which decide one’s rank to a large extent. Even though instruments seem to gain marvelous power as techniques advance with each passing day, there is little possibility that they will conquer the world instead of human. For instance, the robots, one of the intelligent machine may act as a indispensible role in our future life, however, the leading role turns out to be human as well. That is because they function under control from/of human and have no choice but to do what commands tell them to. Unless robots own their original thoughts rather than programmes implanted, they won’t meet the first criteria, let alone the other two. 这段讨论依照作者自己的评判标准,人更加superiority.
To be frank, it is unfair to treat machines merely as the tools of human minds. Their trace can be seen nearly here and there all over our activities. Only under help from them can we complete certain arduous tasks. Take space navigation for example, on the Mars which lacks of fundamental requisites for living things, robots landed and explored the undiscovered world accurately. Swift as we are, we fall far behind computers in calculation skills. The unavoidable truth shows us machines have evolved to be prolongation of human talents in modern society. 这段讨论为什么把机器当做工具是unfair,似乎是因为他们帮助人类space exploration功劳很大?还因为机器比我们在计算、速度上更加good at?
The speaker asserts that machines are inferior to human minds since they are merely tools. This statement seems to be absolute at the first glance. Instances supporting this opinion includes the origin of machines and their confined functions. After further reflection,I tend to agree this assertion if it takes machines’ splendid performances more than tools into account??? |
