The past likes a mirror that reflects the trend of development for the future. Based on my understanding of the society progression and science development, I hold the opposite viewpoint that the past could predict the future.

The future is a continuation of the past. The past provide solid and valid resources to make a summary of the rules of the events, which play key roles in the prediction. Basic to the forecasting the astronomical phenomena for astronomers are the observation records from the early times. The integrality and completeness would greatly devote to accurate forecasting.

Not limited in the "experience science", such as observation astronomy and meteorology, the past also gives hints to the "experimental science". The level of hormone of human bodies fluctuates within a very narrow range. Feedback regulations of hormone contribute to the homeostasis of bodies. After recognizing this point, studying the regulation of blood pressure seems to be much easie. The feedback theory guides the researcher to find a positive pathway which increases the blood pressure and another one to suppress the over-increase to prevent the heavy burden of the high blood pressure brings to the heart and brain.

The prediction of the future is about the trends that would be followed but not the details. Taking the society progression as a typical example, according to the history of human society, it is obvious to predict that the society would be more democratic and people would have greater freedom.
