Honesty is regarded as a unuseful virtue for politician in the author's view, because the author can not believe a politician could tell the truth all the time. An effective politician calls for honesty as a personal virtue, while dealing international events ingenious.

Is it possible for a politician telling all truth? I do not think so. In international events, every nation stands on its own profits first certainly. The politicians use some strategy in order to protect national profit and national secrets must be not only their duty but also loyalty for people and country. The Former Prime Minister Zhou Enlai elected the sum of all denominations on Renminbi as his answer to the foreign journalist’s question about China’s national treasury deposit. His wisdom responded to the journalist perfectly and won his people’s confidence. Of cause, no one regards Zhou’s words as lie but loyalty for his country.
Even it is impossible to tell the truth all the time, honesty is also useful for politicians in consideration of long-term benefit and the payment for breaking promise.
A politician gains success always seed morality. Honesty is the fundamental moral standard for politicians. What factor for a politician to realize his ambition is leadership and their power comes from people without doubt. As natural, people are willing to give their trust to the politicians who have noble characters especially honesty. Gadhi got his justice for his people by non-violent civil which shows his personality and moral characteristic charming followings. In order to win the masses foundation, presenting personal character is the first step to become an efficient politician. No one will support Obama if we did not believe his promise on health care, breaking out partisanship. On the other hand, lies bring little sweet but the long-term bitter. The candidates who win the leadership by promising mirage will lose all they get at the time promise breaking. When they face to their people, they must be sincere so that they can be trusted. Leadership comes from honesty, leadership leads to politic ambition.

Obviously, politicians avoid trapping in crisis of trust. So lie disappears instead of ambiguous sentences and political rhetoric. A hypothetical politician will not point out known potential harm in his policy but emphasize its uncertain profits. He does not lie and he does not tell the truth. The gray lie or white lie, what are between truth and lie, is conmen in efficient politicians peddling their standpoint.
Honesty is not only prerequisite for politician, but also remedy which can save their political reputation when they make mistakes. No politicians can guarantee that they never make mistakes. If they could admit it honestly without hide, the people would show their excuse. Just like Korea forgive Roh woo-hyan when apologize in willing letter. As politicians, they should have the responsibility.
To sum up, efficient politicians have the duty to consider everything from the people’s right. Struggling love peace and benefits for people are their responsibility. When they give the people’s interest priority, they could do the right decision. The people has the right and standard to evaluate politician in consideration of honest virtue.
