In most professions and academic fields, imagination is more important than knowledge.

I generally disagree with this assertion that imagination plays more important role in most professional and academic fields than knowledge. No one can deny the fact that it is the magic power of imagination that makes human beings improved. However, without knowledge, especially in professional and academic fields, how can imagination make sense? Daydreaming is not imagination and it cannot become reality because of the lack of professional knowledge. In my perspective, imagination and knowledge play the equal significance.

It is imagination that makes progress in science and advance the society. In academic fields, ranging from physics to music, all of them need imagination to add color and fresh factors to their fields. The new styles of music, such as R&B and Hip-pop that are basic of soul music, mark the prelude of the new popularity in music circles. The new ways of disease therapy, like knocking down the expression of genes or degrading the gene sequences, are coming out of the scientist’s reasonable imagination and become the leading edge of the biology field. In professional fields, imagination also brings sunshine to us. The more suitable solution is necessary when we are confronted new situation, such as SARS and tsunami. Imagination provides us the opportunity to do better and make our dream come true.

However, no field can be established and developed only depending on imagination. Here comes the instance. In contemporary world, architects are trying to build houses practical and environmental-friendly, especially in some resource-shortage areas. But how to choose the location, how to least affect the surrounding circumstance and what kind of material is used to build the house are the fundamental problems for architects. Only when the architect knows very well about his/her specialized field, can he/she know whether the creation is valuable to make effort to. Even in art, like painting or dancing, if the one who have no idea about the basic rules of controlling the light and shadow, or the one does not know how to be balance when rolling, the chance for them to make achievement is far remote.

The accurate evaluation of the function in professional and academic fields should be that they are interdependent. People have no concept when they first get familiar with something, so at that stage, people’s imagination just can be called as fantasy. Maybe that is why large amount people like to read science fiction. However, in professional and academic fields, there is no room for unrealistic fantasy; the knowledge in these circles is well-organized and necessary for specialized persons to learn by heart. Imagination, serving as a catalyst for people to obtain higher-level of success, requires sound and well-found knowledge to verify and accomplish.

In sum, imagination and knowledge exert the same importance in professional and academic fields. Knowledge is the basic part, which makes imagination to be possible. Imagination is the advanced part, which combines current knowledge into a new creation. Even though the proportion of them may be different in fields and stages, it is undeniable that the development cannot be acquired without either imagination or knowledge.

整体逻辑比较清楚，每段一看就知道讲的是什么，但是表达上面用词不够准确，语言偶尔有歧义，影响了对内容的理解。

叙述上面缺乏限定词的修饰，读起来会觉得不少处论据不足或者有些绝对了。
